    Hello everyone,

It’s time to release the next OxygenOS Open Beta for the OnePlus 3.

First off, like Tony always says, thank you for your feedback and bug reports. If it wasn’t for all of your help, we would never have managed to grow and improve as fast as we have.

Release notes and feature changes in this Open Beta build:
    • All new launcher, added support for shortcuts on 7.1.1
    • Redesigned app drawer
    • Redesigned UI for launcher settings
    • Added status bar icon option to display real time network speed
    • Added Notification Denoising
    • Added Gaming Do Not Disturb mode
    • Added automatic Night Mode
    • Added Secure Box for file encryption
    • Optimized touch latency
    • Optimized camera EIS for videos
    • Improved contacts management with linking and merge functions
    • Added quick pay option for India
    • Bug fixes and general improvements

I’d also like to add some basic info for a few of the features that are not self-explanatory.

    1. Redesigned UI for launcher settings
      1. We’ve simplified the Settings options and added another gesture to get to them quickly, a pinch motion from the homepage of your launcher.
    2. Notification denoising
      1. This is to allow priority levels to be assigned to peek notifications and will let you grant only the most important apps and their notifications the ability to interrupt you. This feature can be found under Settings>Device>Notifications
    3. Gaming Do Not Disturb mode
      1. This allows you to lock the capacitive and home buttons while gaming or in other apps where it’s easy to hit those buttons buttons unintentionally. This feature can be found in Settings>Advanced>Gaming Mode
    4. Automatic Night mode
      1. You are now able to set Night Mode to activate and deactivate at a certain time or according to a specific cycle of day and night. This can be found under settings>Display>Night Mode
    5. Secure Box
      1. This is for all files (including pictures and video) that should not be easily accessible to other people. It can be set up with its own pin, and once items are moved (by long pressing and selecting “set as secure” in the settings option) they can only be viewed in the secure box portion of the file manager. This can be found under Apps>File Manager>Secure Box
    6. Quick Pay (India primarily)
      1. This will allow users to set up a QR-based quick pay feature that can be quickly accessed while the screen is either on or off with a long press of the home button. This will only activate right now if one of the following apps is installed: Paytm, Wechat, or Alipay. This can be found in Settings>Security & Fingerprint>Quick Pay

Please make sure you take a bit of time to fill out our survey on UX & UI here: https://goo.gl/forms/4QApN5zxV3IJ8Frd2.
The names of some of the new features may change based on your feedback!

Also, remember to tell us about any bugs you may find using the bug report forums, found here.

    Please note:
    1. If you have already flashed an Open Beta (you are currently running the latest Open Beta) you will receive this new build as an OTA.
    2. If you ARE NOT running open beta software and would like to, please refer to the flashing instructions found on the downloads page
    3. Once you migrate to the Beta path, you will continue to receive Open Beta OTAs. You will NO LONGER receive the regular Official Stable OTAs.
    4. Moving back to the Official OTA path from the Beta path will require a clean flash (FULL WIPE of all data and cache)
    5. If you want to clean flash this build and start beta testing please go here and follow the instructions: http://downloads.oneplus.net/oneplus-3/oneplus_3_oxygenos_openbeta_13/

PS: I’m sure you’ve noticed that @Tony L. did not post this. For all future beta build posts, I will be the main point of contact. I’m currently in the process of taking over the Beta Program from him, so he can focus on the MP Early Access Program and future OTA versions of our software.

Beta test releases are for competent and experienced users and may, or may not, be stable and suitable for daily use. They are intended for constructive feedback through the Bug Reports channel, to OnePlus. These releases do require reading and research on the part of the users as they may contain new, experimental, features that may, or may not, be included in future official releases.

It is very strongly recommended that if you are installing Beta test release for the first time, that you do a clean flash, (full wipe of all data and cache). Failure to do so has been shown to cause issues in some cases.

Once on a Beta test release you will no longer receive the Official stable OTA updates in future. Moving back to the Official OTA path from the Beta path will require a clean flash (full wipe of all data and cache)

Please read the thread carefully and thoroughly and use the Search function at the top of each page before posting as your query may have already been answered. If it is not, include as much information as you can in your post to help us, help you.

See, (link >)... OxygenOS Beta Program: Explained.

OxygenOS Open Beta 13 for OnePlus 3

If you are currently on a Beta test firmware you will receive the update to Beta 13, OTA, (Over The Air). If you are new to Beta or are using the TWRP custom recovery, you will need to download the FULL Beta 13 .zip (1.35GB). For details on how to download and flash Beta 13 test firmware, see post #32.

    Wiping the Cache Partition

After any update you should take the time to simply wipe your phone's cache partition. This does not affect your data and helps clear out any rubbish from a previous firmware that may cause battery drain, overheating, lags, touch problems, forced closes and BSoD, (Black Screen of Death), among many other issues. This is something that all competent and experienced users do straight after updating. See video...

    Safe Mode for fault finding

If, after doing a Cache wipe, your issues still persist it may not be because of the new update. Rather than doing a Factory reset you can run your phone in Safe Mode for a few hours. This is very easy to do and does not harm your phone. It just runs the phone's software without any of the user's third-party apps. These third-party apps and settings can be the cause of a whole range of issues, including forced closes, overheating, poor battery life, etc: This can be because app developers have not updated the app for the current software level or the apps have not been integrated into the new firmware correctly or need their settings checked. If you do not experience any issues in Safe Mode it indicates that it will be these third-party apps or settings at fault. If the issues you were experiencing remain, then you should re-flash your software, preferably after a Factory reset. Tip: Safe mode removes some Home screen widgets. If you use widgets, take a screenshot to help you put them back. See video...

Aggressive doze and app hibernation has moved

"Aggressive doze and app hibernation", is now in.... Settings > Battery > Battery optimisation > Menu (3 dots) > Advanced optimisation.

    Call recording feature

The new call recording feature introduced in this release, is only available in certain countries where it is permitted to record calls, notably, India. If call recording does not appear in... Phone > Menu (3 dots) > Settings > Calls... then it is not enabled for your location. To record a call whilst calling, simply touch the cassette tape icon that is displayed on the in-call screen.
