    Go to settings > apps.
Scroll down and select quick pic app and tap to open.
    Then tap on storage.
In the next screen press the clear data.
Then check again by opening the app from app drawer.

Then you better check with the app developers and see.
As I just tried that app ( I prefer Google photo app and that's what I use for now) for you by installing it from stores and found no issues.

Also have you given the storage access permissions to that app for now.

I have just Googled 'OOS Beta 18 quickpic crash' not one hit. So either no one else has issue or no one else uses. Sun has just confirmed no issues his end with the app.
Do you have another simular type of app that could be causing conflict between the two?

This is your decision, but in my opinion, on this latest beta everything as been pretty smooth and battery is fine now. So there's nothing holding you back from upgrading to Nougat now.

Try to check in battery optimisation - advanced is the app on optimise and you have advanced optimisation on ? If so try setting your app to not optimise and see. I did have this with an app once, tooki me ages to work out waht was going on.
