BUG:
Had a weird bug with OOS Beta 24 in my Oneplus 5 where the screen would not turn on after turning off.
I could hear the sound of phone unlocking and everything seemed to work but the screen would not turn on no matter what and I could not interact with it.
Had to hard restart holding the power button every time the screen went off or I accidentally locked the phone.
Flashed the latest codeworkx twrp (3.2.3) and wiped everything (including the OS) still it was not solved.
I could not turn on the screen after it turned off even in recovery!
Solved it by flashing latest blue spark twrp (3.2.1).
What I could conclude:
1 .The bug was most probably in the latest recovery of open beta 24.
2.Most probably the latest twrp 3.2.3 (and all other mods based off it) are affected.Older recoveries are not affected.
3. This is likely some device specific bug or something like that since I could not find anyone else facing on the forums facing this problem.
Some facts:
1.Downgraded to latest stable image (OOS 5.1.7) based on 3.2.1 which I was originally on.
2.Not important, but the default recovery of OOS 5.1.7 does not have this bug, since I had installed blue spark recovery only temporarily (did not flash dm-verity) and the default recovery was installed after installing the OS.
Will try the newly released stable version with default recovery or the OOS Beta 24 with blue spark recovery to see if it works or not.
Hope somehow the Oneplus team find this useful. Also posted on the bugs report platform.
Also if anyone else faced this problem please pleaseee reply.
Thanks
