I don't agree here..BETA program is still best. Problem is that many novices have joined the Open BETA who don't understand the basics of software development and are just looking to try out new features without contributing anything from their side like logs or raising bugs.

Now to answer your question, what I assume is that you installed OB24 earlier when it was first released and everything went fine...however for few users, the same OB24 was causing bootloops. So one plus paused the update as mentioned in the second post of this thread.

On Feb 20, they first updated the Support website with the complete 1.7GB package and then based on different states of user phone, they started rolling out OTA with different file sizes to bring all devices to parity with 1.7GB file. That meant that some users like you recieved 200 MB files while some recieved 300MB files etc. Since your system is already on OB24, the update process for this OTA patch is slightly different as the Updater app was never intended to handle this situation where it will install the patch of a version that already exists on user device. Hence, the reason of that extra TIP which is being shown with the new OTA. I am sure it's just a one time thing and from OB 25/27 things will resume to be normal again.

Now, since folks were getting different file sizes in OTAs some people thought that it's better to just download the complete 1.7GB package from the support website and being their device to a state where one plus wants you to be before releasing the next BETA. This was just a safety precaution by users who wanted to eradicate any glitches that sometime come when you merge patches on an active device and therefore doing a full package installs updates the device completely with no doubt whether the OTA patch worked or not.

One plus could have disclosed more information on what went wrong, but this thread will not be the correct destination for that analysis. I am sure that you might see some details on the issue causes in one of their weekly updates or a separate thread on the same.

    Hope it clarifies!

Disclaimer: all the above is just my assumptions and I am no way associated with OP Dev team

Have you compared the MD5 hash of the file with the one available on website to make sure that downloaded file is indeed complete and not corrupted during download?

If not, do that....the only reason I can think of is that the package is corrupted...and you will have to download it again.

Will suggest to use MD5 check for large packages..there is a reason they are displayed on support website .

How much does this update weigh? Because I made a first attempt and it came out 339 MB and it gave me an installation error, now that I rebooted the phone, I get a weight of 1774 MB ... Should I wait or should I go for the update immediately???
