Not from just other ROMs. OnePlus aims to provide a near stock experience and if their latest version of Android doesn't match the looks of the latest AOSP rom, I call that pure laziness, not brand identity. Brand identity would be adding a customised user interface like Samsung or LG does. Having the latest version of an OS look like its former self makes the OS feel stale to use

Anyone have an issue where they plug in the charger and the phone notification light stays red and doesnt make the notification sound for charging or the notification light doesnt turn blue for fast charge. Using Op3.Issue mught have actually been worse on previous betas

Laziness is the wrong word, I imagine there is a fair bit of work in changing the look of stock Oreo to resemble Nougat.

    So whats the big deal?
They are increasing price of devices after every new launch.
Arent they supposed to provide updates to the GUI. Evolving a UI and matching it with the latest is equally important as hardware is. UI is the what you work on. And thats where oneplus is lacking now. A UI revamp is needed and the need is now.

Why? What exactly do YOU NEED from a UI revamp? I personally don't have an issue with updates looking the same as previous releases, function trumps form.

If you can be happy with the same UI when Android version is changing in the backend. Then you're an exception man.
Obviously one would expect a new UI with new features with the major upgrades, security updates kept aside.
Having an obsolete GUI which you've been using since ages is not we look upon.

In this world too many people worry about form over function. Just look at Apple they worry so much about form that they begin to eliminate useful functions (3.5mm jack, fingerprint sensor, ect)

Well we are happy that we have Nougat function in Oreo Form deemed as Noureo.

And what makes you think the OP(3)T and OP5(T) should be running the same OOS version?

what makes u think they should not ????
it makes me think bcz 3t got 8.0 earlier than 5 .... and now the changelog is same except for 8.1 in 3 and 3t !

Just because the 3(T) got 8.0 before the OP5 doesn't mean Jack shit. They only did that so most OnePlus users could brag about it or stop asking for updates. They're prioritising the OnePlus 5(T) and the launch of their next device; and while that may be annoying, there's nothing anyone can do about that

Nothing, or something equivalent to nothing. Jack shit has the remarkable property that its absence and presence are identical. Typically used without a negative to describe a lack of knowledge, value, or significance

They are different devices, OnePlus stated that with the release of stable Oreo the beta program for OP3(T) would be migrated to OP5(T), so yes I think it a reasonable expectation that the OP5(T) would jump ahead of the OP3(T).

As for the changelog most of the changes in the current beta are encapsulated in the "bug fixes and optimisations" I personally suspect there will be a fair bit of platform specific deviation hidden in that catch all.

I guess that OnePlus are holding off the push to the OP3(T) of the final OOS upgrade, remember 8.1 is EOL, as long as possible to stretch the percieved support period.
