All the beta features will end up in Stable.

And OnePlus isn't bound to offer Open Betas to anyone. They are bound to offer only the promised Stable updates. Looks like you don't really understand such a simple point.

What functionalities from 7 series? They have brought Zen Mode and other stuff to Beta and now will transfer it to stable. Where is the problem? And as they said Q will come. What exactly is your problem with that? Timeline will be provided after Google officially releases it.

Maybe you should read where OnePlus clearly said that 5/5T will receive Q. How does no open beta mean no Q? There is not even a correlation.

Did I understand this right: When the next stable update for OxygenOS comes along, we Open Beta users will not get it unless we flash a previous build that will wipe our /data?
Why can't they just switch our update channel to the regular releases?

Look, I explained what my (and apparently not just mine) problem is, so you can read again my post and try to have a better comprehension. Have I said "they are BOUND to give us endless betas"? No.

My problem is that I don't want to roll back to a build with LESS functionalities, LESS SECURITY since it is not updated yet to the latest patches (and this makes a BIG difference, whether you realize it or not), and I don't like being bothered with my data (I could do it, if I had more time to lose and most importantly people with less experience than me or you are going to lose data in the rollback process and that's a concern for the community as well).

Third point, if we are to wait for Q to come to the stable channel...are you ok with waiting another year/year and a half (because you know, betas are for testing purposes and speed up the software building process) to get it? You will probably see Android R dev preview for their shining new "OP 8" or whatever before you can even think about your Q. Happy for that? Me personally, NOT.

And. OP 5T is a year and a half old. Let's not forget it maybe?

Yes unfortunately you did. Either we are stuck with this last beta update forever or we rollback, lose data, functionalities and get older security patches. Best bet is probably to stay with this build until stable gets updated a few times than switch.

    Thx for the clarification.
To be honest, this is my first Android device where I actually used the stock firmware without immediately flashing CyanogenMod/LineageOS because OOS actually had some nice additions without the feeling to be bloated.

If I have to wipe the device, then I will obviously not remain with OOS as it seems like the last device in their support-roster will get updates delayed by a couple of months. Getting Q sometime in summer 2020 might still keep their initial promise but imho that is not something I want to deal with.

Idk personally I prefer more OOS then LineageOS
If the phone is getting less updates that doesn't mean the phone will spontaneously break down...
    Just my opinion

    Quick rant about OB 35/33

    The screen recorder...
Oh boy it's actually worse then it was in OB 34/32...
    Why?
Well for some stupid reason you can't select 60 fps video anymore before the default was 60...
That is such a stupid decision and it's not like the bugs earlier where fixed... No, they are still here
    • Redundant 2160x1080 option on the OnePlus 5 is still there
    • Audio is still 3x lower
    • Audio tuner still doesn't work while recording
    • And now there is no option for 60 fps...
For those that care for the screen recorder this is a bad update for you...

I don't use this personally but it annoys me to see that OnePlus didn't deliver what I expect when they said screen recorder is coming to the OnePlus 5/5T
I didn't expect it to be such a joke of a feature...

    There isn't
I remember it being 60 by default without needing to select anything
Well if you could even :p
What I mean there is no fps option in OB 34/32 because 60 fps is default there (from what I remember)
On OB 35/33 you can't select 60 fps at all

If on OB34 60FPS is default, then what's the problem with OB35 not having an option for you to choose 60FPS? You mean the recorded file is not in 60FPS?

Everyone relax about Android Q. With the OP5 we'll be getting 3 major software upgrades. That's the same as the original Google Pixel (both phones came out in the same time frame - after Nougat's release but before Oreo). We are getting the same software treatment as those using phones directly from Google, except with better software.

Now I understand. RIP... Try recording in 30FPS and compare the recorded video with the one from OB34.
