Check your store account and look at orders. Click on View Order and you should see the exact costs. I am in the US and shipping should be the same as mine. My order shows 349 plus 14.34 shipping and handling with a total of 363.34. But, since your in California and the shipping is from CA then my guess is they charged sales tax.....That would make sense...

When I ordered mine I was going to link a credit card instead of my bank account for my paypal payment, and I got a warning that using my credit card would incur extra charges for an overseas purchase. When I switched back to bank account, I was charged $363 and change, $349 plus shipping. Must be a paypal issue.

paypal doesn't charge the buyer, normally. And if the card's currency is the same as the bill's currency, then things should be straight forward. 1+1 = 2 no hidden costs.

California has sales tax. Very likely it's a combination of his shipping fees (maybe he selected Express Shipping) and the standard Belmont sales tax of 7.5% which can run as high as 9% depending on his exact shipping address.

So $26.25 to $31.50 in taxes plus maybe a tenner for shipping and $390 is about right.
Look at the detailed invoice from OnePlus on the order page, it'll all be spelled out clearly there for you. Much better to do that first before posting a thread ;).

If you used a foreign credit card, then you'd be hit with a conversion fee from PayPal as well, typically that runs about 3.2% from what I've seen, about $12 for a Canuck.

It costs $480 to ship to Ontario, so he got off easy.
Just a little tidbit of information, the average Canadian has 42% of his/her income go toward taxes. Let that sink in, ever dollar we earn, 42 cents goes to taxes. Yet our government mismanagement always assures we're in a deficit and our Health Care System lags behind other nations with universal health care.

It seems like sales tax on the total of the purchase.

Approximately 364 total, and a little over 7% sales tax would get him into the range he's paying.

Welp, there goes my theory unless they suddenly decided that they should have been charging taxes the whole time.
