Riser cables are used in many cases. The problem was with NZXT H1 in particular, not riser cables in general.

That's like saying you won't buy phones anymore because one device had exploding batteries. :D

It's not as small as the NZXT H1, but it can accommodate 2.9 slot GPUs, apparently has better thermals and still looks stunning. I'm hoping Steve from Gamers Nexus reviews it, especially the Air edition.

Yup, let's see what Steve has to say. Love his reviews.... And Thermaltake rants.

Cool look and nice idea. I prefer pitch black and without leds though.
An extreme passively cooled system would have been interesting too. Like a music room computer but with power enough for some demanding stuff too. Seen some massive cases that more or less looked like a heatsink in the size of a bigtower. Could not find the last case I saw though.

One thing that I've read about this kind of setups is that, since there's no other noise coming from it, coil whine becomes more annoying. To be honest, my current system is silent in normal scenarios when in idle and nearly inaudible when in full load.

Coil whine makes me nuts. Luckily my current gear is very quiet. A previous GPU I had was too noisy.
I bought a fanless 80 Plus Platinum PSU for approx 250 USD just to get it fan less and top notch quality with more than enough power to fill every possible future hardware demand. Some PSU can be too loud either due to the fan or by coil whine. Have got some of those too.
When using Boinc it can be a bit noise due to fans peaking when reaching 65°C. But still rather acceptable level due to low rpm fans.
But with normal use it's low enough not to bother me with my open back headphones. Coil whine is not audible even on the most silent level.
My computer is mostly for music and nerdy stuff like compiling software and Boinc. So this build is cut down on the GPU department compared to the gaming builds I used to have.
I've been thinking about water cooling systems. But I'm a worried about getting other types of sound that I can't stand to hear.
I could fall a sleep with computer fans sounding... But if it is windy outside or raining... Irregular sounds... Impossible unless I'm fully exhausted. So sound can be so very different depending on what it is.
Some stuff is painful to hear 😉

If I end up building this thing, yes.

I don't really need the expandability that I'm losing by doing this.

    I don't think there is a 1200 / 1600W SFX PSU yet :p

Who said the power supply needs to be in the case?

Btw there's already 1000W SFX ones.... Won't be long before 1200W. Especially moving to maybe only 12V rail ones.

@dsmonteiro why not go for a desk Case? No extra size needed on your floor/table and generally great cooling. Some even support dual system if you want to re-use your old components as a server.
