You know what is annoying- when you have run for 5 km and your foot count still the same.

In my One plus 5T, it usually keep the foot count of previous day, sometimes it will not reset itself, you have to open the app then only it will reset.

Another problem is that pedometer doesn't work well. I keep my Note 4 and one plus 5T with me, while the note 4 did read my foot count if I am cycling but sometimes the one plus 5t doesn't.

I think it's a software glitch, I have tried different apps as well but story remains the same.

It doesn't have any built in pedometer.. It probably relies on other sensors for step count.
Note 4 has a dedicated sensor for step count.
And S Health app might not work well with Non-Samsung phones.
If you ask me, I use Google Fit on my 5T with location mode kept on 'battery saving mode'. It works for me pretty well, with almost 90% accuracy and doesn't affect the battery lofe too..

There is a pedometer? I'm not aware there is one in the phone. There is the standard Accelerometer and Gyroscope to *help* count your step. You shouldn't be relying to that for counting steps. If you want to be precise, you should get something like a Fitbit or something

Oh, and cycling is hard for a phone to track. People pay hundreds of dollars to just to track that. I wouldn't rely on your phone for that...and it's not the phone's fault either.

When I had note 4, I never had a problem for tracking the cycling. I used to go around 25-30 km, sometimes 40 or so. only when the GPS was not there, I faced some issue. That's why sometimes I miss my note 4, and it's stylus. damn that was so useful.
I guess that's what the compromise is, you get good phone One plus 5T in 33k and note 8 around 60k, almost double the price.

You do know tracking cycling is the GPS and not any of the sensors built into the phone... Sorry buddy, you got it all wrong. Well, unless you strap you phone on your leg while you cycle...

I do know man. that for cycling it doesn't need a pedometer. what I was trying to say that when you do cycling it also gives you the count of foot( if you give full paddle it will count two steps for that as well)

Dude... You need to educate yourself on how cycling and step tracking works because there is no way to track it the way you describing.

You need to use note 4, I guess then.
I understand every bits and pieces of it. I am using note 4 from last three years, and if I am not wrong, note 4 was one of the earliest phone who had introduced the tracking of steps.

I can give you the screenshots of cycling if you want when I went for cycling of 40km or so, my step count was around 20k or something.

To give you a better idea, use s health app, and see by yourself.

I said it's not good for tracking the steps count, normal steps count not cycling, man. I have to reset or open the app over and over again to start the step count.
I never complained that one plus 5t isnt good enough about tracking cycling. I replied to your comment. when you said that it's tough to track cycling.

Alright. But even with steps, OnePlus never promised step tracking is precise. I don't think any phone makers promise that. You really should leave the pedometer to real pedometers.
