Well, my phone is still acting up, but I downloaded the Verizon app, and when I went to add-ons, my phone is listed as a One Plus 8 Pro Unlocked. SO the phone is being recognized by some portions of Verizon, Ill call tomorrow, I'm tired of being on the phone today.

    Update:

I finally had time to get back to the grind, trying to fully activate my device. I was able to speak with a customer care rep, not tier 2 tech, and they activated my new SIM card . After a quick reboot, the texts came flooding in. So, a new SIM might be a solution. It could also be that things have changed on the back end in these last couple of days, and the activation prompted something. Either way, I am up and running.

update: I was able to activate my OP8 Pro with a new sim without calling customer service and everything works! (not sure if you would need to call if you are sim-swapping from an old device).

I called from my OnePlus 8 Pro with the SIM that came out of my Pixel 2XL and told Verizon that I needed my CDMA-Less activated. He put me on hold and before he it was like someone opened the flood gate for text messages. Everything is working as it should now!

Just got notification that my 8 pro has been delivered.
I'll be heading home soon from the office to play with my new toy and see if this verizon crap is ironed out.
I'll be trying to do it online first. If that doesn't work, I'll be making a call.
    Fingers crossed.

The nightmare is over folks. Shout out to all my launch day bundle holdouts. I've had my OnePlus 8 Pro since April 21st. It wasn't easy but not returning it was the best decision ever!

I set mine up on Verizon online and it accepted my IMEI and recognized the device, but am not receiving texts. On the phone with Tier 2 now

UPDATE: Despite CDMA-less provisioning having appeared on my account when I registered the device on the web site, it was not showing on their end when I talked to tech support. Once activated by them it was fine and everything is working

Update: Everything works! if you contact verizon tect support, give them your IMEI, and insert your new/existing SIM; you'll be good to go. Doesnt take too long. Customizing your 8Pro will take longer. Good luck everyone.

i called on my old device and they linked me to a live chat. In the chat, after i confirmed i was using my existing number, they linked me this site (https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/how-to-activate-4g-phone-upgrade/). Then to turn off my old device, switch SIM, and turn on the 8Pro. hope it works out for you.

Some great news everyone. I was one of the people who bought the launch day bundles off one plus. After days of Verizon not recognizing the IMEI number and not receiving texts, I called them today and they finally got my phone to work and it was very quick. Just put the sim card in the OP8/ 8 Pro and give them the IMEI number of the phone and the sim card number. They'll activate it and then ask you to turn your phone on and off (make sure to give them your number before you do that so they will call you back). Once that's done they will send you a confirmation text and you are all set. I have seen the light!

Agreed. That's why I was looking into T-Mobile, just in case. I love this phone a lot and I have no affinity for any specific carrier, especially not Verizon.

I've been debating dropping iOS for years now, watching Apple fall more and more behind (more than they usually already were) and just not feeling any of their phones past the 6s+, but neither really did any Android phone call out to me. That is, until the OnePlus 7 Pro, which I couldn't find a path to purchase that I felt was kosher enough to risk that much money. When they announced the 8/Pro and I knew I could get it direct from OnePlus I knew I was going to take a chance and I am so glad I did. :)

What is WiFi calling? Specifically, why is it a good thing? I get that it's probably phone calls over WiFi instead of cell service but why is it a feature everyone here is asking for? Is it just that your cell service is bad around your house?

You dont get coverage everywhere in every building. I travel all around the country and world and the wifi calling comes in handy more often then you think. I worked in a lab that had concrete walls no signal could get thru and i was able to connect thru wifi to receive my text and calls like nothing was wrong. It definitely has its perks!!!!
