    Hello OnePlus forum members,
Today I have made a poll to show Google that Canada wants fiber just as much as the United States. Toronto is a very large city, which is home to over 2.5 million people. This number is the approximate population of Toronto alone. In the GTA, there is an estimated 6 million people, most of whome want fast, cheap internet. Making Toronto the next fiber city would show the world that Google cares about other countries as well, and would be a great start in the international deployment of fiber. I am hoping that if enough people express interest, we can get Google fiber to come to Canada. Please take a moment to vote, and share this in any Canadian based threads.
    Thanks for your help,
    Ash23

Would be nice to have it in Montreal as well, but i don't know if Google will be willing to do business outside of their home country... look at what happened to Target...

I'm pretty sure any city would take google fiber, but the big name internet companies( Cogeco, bell, comcast) are fighting to shit on that.

I'm from Toronto, and I remember reading somewhere that the problem with bringing Google Fiber into Canada is that the 3 major ISP's (Rogers, Bell, Telus) are spending a shitload to make sure that Canadian law prevents this from happening. I'm no legal expert or anything, so I don't know exactly how that works, but it does make sense since the big 3 own basically all of the smaller companies, and charge astronomical rates here. Bringing Fiber into Canada would result in massive waves of people switching over, and would result in them having to cut prices dramatically to even think of competing with Google.

    Yes. This.
We've tried Bell and Rogers - my family can only have one person streaming data at a time or else the lag is unbearable. It's sad to think that this is the best there is available to me... like its the 21st century dammit

Exactly. It's such a great service, I would hate for it to be one of those things that never reaches our country (like Hulu for instance)

And how exactly will a poll in OPO forum show the great demand to Google?

Google said that they want places that would show financial gain. If enough people show interest, it could convince Google to begin branching out

Great idea! Great initiative! But as the others pointed out, limited audience. Port it to Facebook, Twitter, Google+, give us the links and lets make this thing viral!

Try Acanac! Their support sucks big way, it takes a bit of time and patience to get all ducks in a row, but once you have it, it beats Bell and Rogers hands down (over their own hardware!!!), price-wise and performance-wise. I'm getting 25/10Mbps for $51/mo. I was actually shocked and surprised by Bell (a rare compliment to them!) how hard they tried to make their own competition work well over their line!
