I am using Google Photos app for the last 5-6 years and I have a lot of pictures backed up to it. I recently got my a factory reset done from the service center. Since then I am not able to use the app. It just shows that it's getting the photos from the server and eats up battery and makes phone hot(battery temp shows 45 °C and above sometimes). I have disabled it and have to use the stock gallery app.. It's good.. But I can't get my old photos in there.
    Please help.

    1. Sign out of your Google account.
    2. Force stop and delete cache of Google Play Services. If necessary, delete data too.
    3. Force stop and delete cache of Google Services Framework. If necessary, delete data too.
    4. Delete app data of Google Photos.
    5. Reboot to recovery and wipe cache.
    6. Reboot and sign in to your Google account.

The google photos App will first sync the photos with the device and then will begin uploading your images.

It does take a while depending on how much is backed up onto your Google photos account

First of all, your photos are safe with Google.

Are you using a firewall app and blocking internet access to system apps?

This is a different problem. I have seen this happen on my rooted device where I blocked several system apps from connecting to the internet (forgot which ones).

The Google Photos app would always struggle, even fail. It will be in the 'Getting your Photos' toast notification state all the time.

Yeah it shows the same thing you're talking about. But my phone isn't rooted and I haven't changed any permissions. Can I do that in the OS?

If I wanted my photos to be offline and not to be synced across devices.. I would have done that. Thanks for the jato though.

It's at the same place since.. Not a single photo synced yet.

Have you disabled internet access to Google Photos or other apps?

No point in waiting any longer. It won't work until we find the cause of the problem and address it.

What I did is this :
Visited photos.google.com in Chrome on my phone
Added it to home screen and it works and gets the job done 😁

But that hasn't solved the problem. It is only a workaround to view your pictures.

Is Google Photos app still not working despite the suggestion mentioned above?

Nope.. Works for me.. Whenever I will reset my device...it will start working
I usually do every 6 months.. So 2 months are already gone. 😁😅
