The average user receives tens and even hundreds of notifications each day, one notification after the other it could get pretty annoying especially when the user wants to use his phone for media consumption and wants to get the most out of his OnePlus device without getting interrupted by annoying notifications.
We use our devices in full screen mode regularly and daily, mainly for entertainment purposes like watching videos or playing games and even reading E books, Full screen mode is made to deliver as much of an immersive experience as possible especially on newer smartphones with tall aspect ratio and minimal bezels (OnePlus 5t and newer). one thing that ruins the immersiveness for me while using full screen is notifications, we all receive LOTS of notifications. and sometimes they are annoying while watching videos, playing, reading.... (always annoying actually), but at the same time some of these notifications are important and we want to get notified. By implementing this simple feature into Oxygen OS, Users will get notifications without compromising the immersive experience.

    Who are the users ?
People who want to enjoy a full screen Experience without getting interrupted by notifications yet still receive them, Basically Everyone.

What is the proposed function ?
It's basically a thin light glow that passes through the notch borders for a brief amount of time without sounds, with different colors for different app notifications. E.g. Green for Whatsapp, Blue for Facebook. furthermore there will be an option for specific notifications such as: Glow red if the user received a Whatsapp Message from Mom, boss and anybody whose messages are important (like your girlfriend who will kill you if you don't respond).

Another Optional use for this Feature:
When the user receives a notification while the screen is off, instead of lighting up ambient display, the light glow will show up with the same function as in full screen (listed above).

    A few notes:
    • The user will have the option to decide whether he wants a call to show up or just glow like other apps.
    • It's important to note that the light glow is very minimal and integrates seamlessly with the borders and unlike a regular notification it does not interrupt the user.
    • If the user ignores a certain notification, future notifications from the same specific source will be ignored. E.g. "It's your Ex don't reply" sent a message and the user ignored it, other notifications from "it's your Ex don't reply" won't trigger the light glow (not permanently though, If the user viewed the notification it will show again and so on).
    • This feature could be implemented with gaming mode as an extra option of how to show notifications, while still being a standalone mode for none gaming purposes.

Future OnePlus devices (including old OnePlus devices without notches) :
Hole Punch display: Same idea But the light glows around the hole.

Slider Mechanism: Same idea but the light glows either On a small part of the upper side border or maybe It could be implemented on one of the rounded corners.

A general idea of how this feature will work and look:

What is the user value ?
    • Save the hassle of having to swipe away each notification that comes and enhance the overall immersive experience.
    • Make watching YouTube videos, movies and other fullscreen activities even more enjoyable on newer OnePlus devices.
    • Make the notch cooler.

If there are existing comparable functions in the smartphone industry, how is your proposed feature superior?

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.used.aoe&hl=en - Always On Edge

1- I found this app to be very in your face, it's basically style over substance, by showing light along all edges of the phone with too much movement.
2- This app is poorly optimized therefore it uses extra resources and affects battery life.
3- This app lacks fullscreen mode support so it misses the whole idea.

Thank You OnePlus for offering us such an amazing opportunity.

If Oneplus 7 removes the notch (maybe using pop up camera) then where will this light go ? :(
