Always-on display is a pretty common feature in Android phones these days. I believe OxygenOS needs such a feature.

Since OnePlus phones already have AMOLED displays this feature should blend in perfectly with the device.

    Who are the users?
    Everybody.

    What is the proposed function?

Add the ability to display information like:
    - Clock
    - Weather
    - Notes
    - Calendar appointments
    - Notifications
    - etc.

    What is the user value?
Users will be able to have the information they need always available without even touching the the phones.

If there are existing comparable functions in the smartphone industry, how is your proposed feature superior?
Samsung have a pretty good always-on display with a lot of features. It provides the ability to see a lot of information and has a very beautiful design.

Why do you need to stare at your screen all the time?

Can you haters just let us have a feature we want? You don't have to use it if you don't want to. You're wasting everyones and especially your own time in trying to make fun of a feature in basically all OLED phones.

Btw the Always On Display was present on the 1+ 6 with Android 8. Even after the patch that disabled the settings module for it one could enable it with Magisk and it worked wonderfully. It drained like at most 5-10% battery over a whole day and thus was perfectly fine for me. I would even want it if it drained 25% over the course of a day...

If OnePlus doesn't want to expose the feature to regular users for some "reason" like fear of battery drain complaints then just add it to the developer options or as the OnePlus Labs thing or however it's called. Add a warning message that explains there will be increased battery drain for when you first enable it.
