    Friends,

    Thank you for coming out as a community these past few weeks. We’ve been overwhelmed by the enthusiasm. Many of you shared great ideas that resonated with our vision for a burdenless user experience. We’ve spent the last two weeks carefully reviewing your entries. We had nearly a thousand threads to go through, first to narrow down to the valid ones (almost 200!) and then to rate each one of them according to a set of parameters (namely the PRD’s quality, how much would they be used and how well were they received by the community). We ended up with a shortlist that was carefully reviewed by the OxygenOS team and all the relevant stakeholders.

    Several of the qualifying entries we reviewed actually contained features we were already working on. I suppose you could say here that great minds think alike. While we can’t say much about it just yet, we look forward to sharing them with you in the future.

    The feature our team voted on was a true stand out. The carefully laid out product requirements document got our attention, but it was the similarity with our own philosophy, of making small but meaningful tweaks that combine into a great user experience, that won us over: Congratulations, @Its.Leandroo! Your detailed entry is not only quite thoughtful and creative, but also a great reminder that we should constantly keep a focus on polishing the OxygenOS experience. We look forward to meeting you in the future.

    Be sure not to miss Its.Leandroo's Reworked OxygenOS Experience entry [HERE]! You can also check his collection of 47 designs that illustrate all the small tweaks he envisions for Oxygen OS.

    We will be working hard in the coming months to make this idea a reality for our community. Stay tuned for periodic updates from us on the forums! Thank you again to all of you who participated or commented with helpful suggestions on all the thread entries. We'll keep working together to bring better technology to the world.

    Never Settle.

    Hi all,

    Seeing some of the points raised by some in this thread, I’d like to add some information:

    We considered the risk of some users being displeased with the selection, and while there are other features we considered, we ultimately decided to go with @Its.Leandroo’s entry for its closeness to our own core values. UI/UX is a key element of the OS, that can have a serious impact on how the user perceives the software, even to a subconscious level and also something really close to our heart.

    To give a bit more insight into our selection process, we rated each valid entry according to its PRD’s quality, how frequently that feature would be used, how much the community liked it and its novelty factor (if they were entirely new or just improvements on already existing features). After having ranked them, we went through the top contenders, looking into several aspects, namely how they would fit our software and brand philosophy, if there were similar features already put into place or if they were already on our roadmap. While some were cut for the aforementioned reasons, we ended up with several worthy contenders and ultimately had to choose between one of them. Still, those that did not win will still be considered for future implementation. For transparency, these are the ones that have been passed internally:

    @FlixbusLennart’s #PMChallenge - Reworked Notification Management

    @YRJ’s [UPDATED] #PMChallenge The Unsung Hero: Alert Slider and Customization!

    @Marcinbauer’s #PMChallenge + Multitasking the OnePlus way - faster +

    @stateandrei5’s #PMChallenge - Desktop Mode

    While this doesn’t mean those features will end up being added, we will be more than glad to give recognition to those behind them, if they are indeed implemented.

    Also, to address the claims that picking this winner was taking the easier way out: Shaping a product isn't easier than introducing a new feature. Implementing Léandro’s tweaks in a consistent manner across the entire OS takes time and effort. Our decision making was focused on basic features (as in, easy to use, not easy to implement) that have bigger impacts on most users' daily use and, most importantly, features that benefit the majority of our users.

    We truly appreciate the hard work so many of you put into your proposals, but we do not believe that picking @Its.Leandroo ’s entry does any disservice to the ones that did not make the cut. It was a truly well thought entry that fully aligns with OxygenOS team’s philosophy. The overall positive response to it also reassures us about the decision we made.

    Congratulations @Its.Leandroo! It's great to see a known face winning such an important contest and especially with an entry that reflects so much of what Oxygen OS really is about.

    So here's a little story about how much work Leandro put into this.

    As you can see from our badges, we have both been chosen as reviewers for the OnePlus 6 last year.
    We had a lot of nice chatter in the organisation group of The Lab and continued to have contact via Discord for months after the Lab experience ended. We still write messages daily, or at least every 3 days when times are busy.

    On Discord, I could witness how much work and time he put into this. How much dedication he showed for the project, even though his time plan was full with his own big project, his internship, school, Asphalt 9 and what not. Nearly a whole month went into his project, starting in early February, when he wrote me the idea that only a lunatic could have.

    [IMG]

    Sending me dozens of screenshots per day, asking for ideas to improve his mockups and helping me with mine in return - there was no day in February where he didn't make progress. The pinnacle of it, recreating the OnePlus boot animation from scratch using HTML/CSS/JS and setting up a whole website to show his stuff. Impressive!

    What I want to say in short is:

    Never in my life have I met a person that dedicated to everything they do, so passionate about details and so thoroughly working out things.

    This PM Challenge winner has every right to be the winner and I could not think of a better reward for his hard work.

    Hi, I'm sad I have missed it.
    I have an idea of having feature so you could set to wear percentage your battery would charge, like you can do in some laptops.
    This would increase battery life. battery on my 6T is so big and phone is so power officiant that I'm going to bed with at least 25% still there, so I would love to restrict battery charge.

    Thanks for making best phone I've ever used, OnePlus
