bar_sc, Feb 5, 2019 : Hi, I'm really exciting to participate in this contest Did you ever have an emergency and had to call someone urgently but their phone was on silent mode which makes them unavailable? Have you ever had to put your phone on silent mode but was afraid that you are going to miss an emergency call? This is for you! This feature is going to solve your problem. I'll start by the product requirements document Who are the users? Users are people who needs to put their phone on silent mode sometimes, but still want to get a call only in case of an emergency. Users are people who have an emergency case and need to call someone even if the other side is on silent mode. Some examples: Parents that are in a meeting but afraid that they might get an emergency call from the kindergarten teacher Children/Grandchild's of an elder that sometimes put their phone on silent but want to be available in case of an emergency. Someone who is in an emergency and need to call his relatives urgently. What is the proposed function? When placing a phone call, the user can mark this call as an emergency. This way (and only if the other side approved this in advanced) your phone call will ring on the other side, even if the other side is on silent mode. On the other side - you can accept emergency calls from others, so if someone is calling you an emergency call when you are on silent mode, then your phone is going to ring. The user that gets the call should allow in advance which contacts (or all of them) are allowed to make emergency call to him. The user that makes the call should mark the call as an emergency call. What is the user value? Users will have the peace of mind of being able to call someone when they are in an emergency. Users will have the peace of mind when putting their phone on silent mode by knowing that in case of emergency the will get the call even they are on silent. If there are existing comparable functions in the smartphone industry, how is your proposed feature superior? There is no exactly the same feature but something very limited. Now in Android you can mark specific contacts that can call you when you are in do not disturb mode. But the difference is that nowadays every call from those contacts will ring your phone. In my feature, only in case the caller mark the call as an emergency call then your phone will be rang. Let's continue with the flow: You need to configure your white list (contacts that can call you an emergency call): From the other side - need to place an emergency call? just choose the contact you want: If you choose a contact that white listed you and emergency call is an option, then you will get the following screen (press on the phone icon will make the emergency call): If the other contact didn't white listed you, then you will get the following screen: There is also a nice widget, to help you even more in a case of an emergency: Summary: This feature is going to help you in case you want to call someone when you are in an emergency, and also helps you to get emergency calls from others, in case they are in an emergency.
