    Target audience:
people with limited mobile data plans and those with a strong preference for privacy

To avoid apps draining your limited highspeed data volume with updates and other high usage, it would be nice if Oxygen OS allowed you to grant permission to an app for each kind of connectivity separately.
This can be done by simple checkboxes in the app permission menu:
    - mobile Data
    - Mobile Data (roaming)
    - VPN
    - Wifi

This would help to keep apps in check and also to not leak critical data accidentally when outside of your VPN.

I haven't found a good mockup app yet but it would be done similiarly to

In the app permission you would have an entry "Internet Access".
If you press on it you get a row of checkboxes like one of the lines above and can actively select which kind of connection the app is allowed to use, if any at all.

Compared to existing third party apps and custom roms, this would be best done in the
OS because it doesn't require additional rooting of the device nor does it require installing apps which you have to even know before exist.

If they can implement this, it will be a super-feature.
