Please could this be moved to the Tech section...

    Who are the users?

People who go to gigs. This feature will not only benefit the phone users but also all people who attend gigs and are affected by phone users at a gig.
We love going to gigs. We love taking photos and living in an online social world. It is time to introduce a new phone feature that minimises the impact of using phones at gigs. In particular a feature is needed to reduce screen glare when some gig attendees take photos/videos.

    What is the proposed function?
Gig Mode - this is specifically a feature for the camera where it will enter designed settings to minimise impact of use at a gig (but could also be adapted in to a feature for the whole phone).
In my proposed Gig Mode it will:
    - Reduce the screen size to a view finder size (this could possibly be customised to different sizes but should really be small to not impact other gig users)
    - The reduced view finder screen can be moved to any area of the screen (to accommodate users who like to hold a phone with left/right hand)
    - Automatically disable the flash
    - Reduce the brightness of the screen
    - Apply a 'dull' filter to ensure that glare to other users is minimal
    - ring volume will be reduced and vibrate turned on

Gig Mode can be activated through the pull down navigation menu. However, there is potential for this to enter automatically by sensing a gig environment (loud sound/music + low light).

    What is the user value?
User will benefit in several ways:
    - camera setting will be optimised to produce the best photos at a gig
    - user will be able to take photos and not impact other gig attendees as much as a normal phone would
    - battery life will be extended by flash being disabled and screen size being reduced

If there are existing comparable functions in the smartphone industry, how is your proposed feature superior?
To my knowledge the feature does not exist on current phones/cameras. A feature like this would reduce the amount of impact phones have during gigs. Especially if you are standing behind someone taking a picture/video.
