Users - Anyone using Oxygen OS
Proposed Function - Animated Notification
User Value - more value for those who want a notification but have no LED for a notification
Many on the forum have asked about turning on a pixel or few pixels on the screen to have some type of notification in absence of a notification LED. For phones without a dedicated LED, Oxygen can offer an animation to notify the user they have a notification awaiting their attention. These notification animations could be customized to the users preference and either be toggled on or off. When on, it could be set to display a short amount of time (so it's not constantly replaying) and also repeat time. The repeat time would be set to tell the OS how often you want it to repeat the notification alert.
for instance, you select an animation and toggle on Notification Alerts. You set the Notification time to "10 seconds". Then set the repeat time to 5 minutes. The notification alert will activate when an event occurs and repeat the animation for 10 seconds if not acknowledged and then "sleep" for 5 minutes before repeating the process.
Another setting can be added to have this animation off during the night - no point is showing animation while you're sleeping. The same goes for "pocket mode" and DND mode.
For animation, OnePlus could simply "re-purpose" and existing animation (like the fingerprint scanner on 6T) or have a completely new animation - perhaps like a heart beat monitor flashing across the screen ...

Update to add images of my idea and possible screens for setting notification animation:

The standard LED will be "off" to allow animation (which will be unavailable if the toggle is "On")
The popup selections will be just like the current popups used elsewhere in the OS with radio buttons allowing the user to make a selection. Each setting has a separate popup to allow:
- Animated Notification Style
- Time to display the animation
- Once time to display has expired, how long the OS should wait before re-displaying the animation once again.
Some ideas for animation would be as previously suggested, an EKG style, a water drop dripping from top to bottom of screen and "Old School" being a floating 1+ logo bouncing around on the screen
