    Who are the users?
This feature targets people who need to record videos of their device use (gamers, streamers, tutorial video makers, etc.).

    What is the proposed function?
A native screen recorder and streaming application with clear stereo sound as would come through speakers, headphones or Bluetooth devices. Option to save recording to device or stream in realtime to RTMP endpoints and minor abilities to set bitrates, screen resolutions, include a webcam overlay etc.

    What is the user value?
Most Oneplus 6T users are looking for a high-performance high-spec phone when they buy it. The streaming community is a big part of that number. While phones like Samsung, LG, Xiaomi and IOS support this feature, Google has purposely removed it sighting security issues.

I understand that any feature disabled by default with an option for users to enable them with adequate caution is sufficient protection against unintended use. While security is a concern, disabling a feature that could boost the sales of a phone like Oneplus 6T with the best processor and specification among Android streamers, gamers, and the common people in general, doesn’t make sense.

If there are existing comparable functions in the smartphone industry, how is your proposed feature superior?

Currently, most phones allow recording native screen and mic-audio. Only ROMs designed by Samsung, LG and Xiaomi support recording of internal audio despite blocking of that API by Google in stock AOSP.

On the other side, Apple, a leading front in user privacy, has had its phones support internal audio recording since a long time.

By allowing such recording and further adding a streaming option, Oneplus could be the first company to offer a phone designed to be an everyday device and still be a capable streaming device by itself. Current solutions involve using a DisplayLink connector, Miracast connector or recording without using headphones. Even then, the audio streamed is mono through speakers and captures ambient noise. Since no Oneplus device still has USB 3.0, MHL connectors are not a possibility.
