Poll of the Week is a new series hosted by the Writers' Club that aims to kickstart interesting discussions by asking simple questions.

A poll can carve a line of communication between you and your peers. If the direct question kickstarts the discussion, the adjacent thread is your home ground to expand it, fueling it with details and observations. That's the core purpose of this new series that every week will bring you a different poll.

To avoid discrepancies between the members who use the Community App and those who prefer to have an experience via a browser, you'll find a link to a Google Form in each thread. Hours before the following thread goes live, that poll will be closed, and the results will be announced in that thread before the next question is asked.

As always, if you have suggestions for the format or ideas for featured questions, you can write them in the thread itself tagging me or @dsmonteiro, or via DM, if you prefer. These polls are not organized by OnePlus, but by users from the Writers' Club, so please don't see them as any indication of future products or features.

All that said, here's the first question:

How much storage do you have used in your smartphone?
Because there are different storage configurations, instead of a percentage, we are giving you options in GB. As for satellite questions, you can mention how much storage your device has - expandable or not - and, naturally, what is consuming the most, be it photos, videos, apps, games, you name it.

For example, my device has a total of 128GB and, as of today, I have 32GB used. Of which, 17GB are by apps, 12GB is by the system, and 759MB are occupied with photos. Fun fact, the phone is telling me that "Android System Intelligence" is the most storage-hungry app with 1.35GB. Google comes second with 1.32GB used.

Ready to cast your vote? Just click the link below, and let's have a conversation about your usage. The link is valid until Friday, January 28, 10:00 GMT.

Would you go with 128GB again for a future device?

Many thanks, that's a lot of squirrels. :p

Never ever. I need atleast 512GB. Forget about 128GB, I am not even sure about 256GB now. A single game is 15GB these days(Genshin Impact)

This is how my usage looks
    Screenshot_20220121-142927__01.jpg

In short I have used 77% of 256Gb storage, and ~ 59.97 Gb is left.

PS - the app says 50 Gb, the settings page says 59. Seems there is some inconsistency with either of them.

Indeed. Good part it one can tap on a specific category and it will give you a further breakdown to the level of individual file size. Never tried it but very handy to find out target folder than needs action.

One can also pinch and zoom.

122 GB used out of 128 GB...
where photos and videos have got 71 GB 😀

With smartphones you never take just one photo... you take a lot more to choose from later and that never happens my friend... 🤪

Also, because of space shortage; a long pending update is stuck in my notification pane for countless days now.

Occupancy is 112 GB of 128. I think even if I'll buy a 256 GB ROM device, data would be around 220 GB.
It's a practice to clean garbage where I am not so strong at.
More than 130 apps 😳. I didn't realise I am playing with my RAM as well.

I love that visual representation. Care to explain how you managed to do it?

You guys are living your best life, ha. Do you have "storage anxiety" yet?

Also: more than 130 apps? Are you trying to experiment every single app in the Google Play Store? :D

Yes. I don't really care. I have 50 Gb free space, my device doesn't lag or cries of space.

I am a hoarder, I have images which dates back to 2014.

That reminds I should do a backup.

128Gb is no longer enough for me. Now 137/256 Gb used (78Gb for photos & videos). And I had to buy Google One Basic plan to do a proper backup.

I use hardly around 30 apps. All others are rarely used. That check made me feel, I should delete atleast 50 of them.

Many thanks for the link, I have pinned your message. I mean, it's not like you couldn't do it yourself, but you know. :D

Some interesting results we are getting. I'll update the thread with how the poll is doing 24 hours after it was started.

Not going to lie, sometimes I install apps just to follow how they are updated. And yes, this is nerdy as heck. :p

Thanks to a 256GB device, I still have free storage. It used to be at least 99% used with 128GB devices.

My storage is mostly filled with tons of Images.

I thought 128GB ROM would do the job, but no! It ain't enough as one image itself consumes around 10mb 🤡.

So, next time, I'll look for 512GB ROM.
