So, I'm having a major issue with my OnePlus 5 cameras... Everything looks absolutely stunning right before taking the photo in the preview, but when I click, the post processing makes EVRRYTHING look absolutely horrible, noisy and without any detail whatsoever. Zooming in any picture and it becomes horrible.
I'm coming from an iPhone 6, and although it's an older phone, it's much more reliable in a sense that post processing doesn't screw with the sensor's capabilities.

On the iPhone, what you see is what you get. Up to this point, on the OnePlus 5, what you see is a reminder of what you could have, but you end up with a noisy, grainy, detailess version of it.

I'm sure a software update could EASILY fix it! Or is there any camera app that could handle it better?

Dunno what's with your device, but I never faced such an issue with any of my OnePlus devices, nor in my friends' OnePlus devices...

    I've used 2 OnePlus 3 , 2 OnePlus x , 1 OnePlus 3T , and 3 OnePlus 5 , and honestly their cameras were good ! Post processing didn't mess anything...
Only that the ISO is a little higher than normal

sorry if I'm pushing it here.... but are you telling me that exactly what you see in the preview is what you get after taking the photo? even in jpeg?

    If you hate post processing...
You can always use pro mode and raw image...
    No post processing there...
But the image will be unreadable by normal image viewers in pc...

"stunning in the preview" ?? dude this "preview" you speak of is just your LCD screen. if you want that exact look so bad, just take a stupid screen shot. haha. All Read !!??? as though you are gonna have some great insight that hasn't occurred from the thousands of other OP5 users. if you hate the post processing, shoot RAW. end of story.

the thing is.. it shouldn't be this hard to get a good image from a supposedly "flagship killer", right? what bothers me most is that I know the sensors could be delivering a MUCH better results if not for the software!

    Yup
And only in HDR and HQ modes, the image changes a little, for the better ... Cuz those modes are meant to enhance the picture

I'm not observing any such issue...
@Punk_69 is not observing any such issue...
    That was just a suggestion...

And ya, for reference... You can really do what @jerrymilton said...
Take a screenshot via camera app and then compare it with the post processed image...
Share them with us as well...
    We'll be the judge...

says the CUPCAKE. it ain't rocket science...if one doesn't like the post processing of OP's jpeg engine, you shoot RAW and if you don't know what that means...then your IQ is a disappointment.

I usually don't prefer those modes myself...
Only use them when it's really needed...
