Working Power button + Vol Up enables vibrate mode?

I keep hitting this key combo by accident when using the volume up button. Is this the expected behavior? I don't see any mention of it in the settings app and would like to disable it.

What's the point of forcing people to post in this forum if no one is responding to posts or moving valid concerns to forum that gets more traffic?

Hi, and welcome to the community.
Unfortunately there are a lot of newbies from around the world posting in a forum for the first time at the moment. Unfortunately this means the odd post can get missed in the rush of posts from people that don't realise using a phone means using the battery.

It doesn't enable vibrate mode on any of my OnePlus devices, it takes a screenshot.
Try going in to test mode (dial *#808# in the phone app) and going to Device Debugging and Keypad Test. It will then get you to try each of the buttons/slider/gestures in turn and each will disappear if successful. If any stay on you need to contact OnePlus support > https://www.oneplus.com/support

all of them pass (except for home and app switch since I'm using gesture mode) so not sure what to tell you. when I press power + vol up it silences my ringtone and displays a message that "calls and notifications will vibrate" at the bottom of the screen.

If checked with someone I know with a 6T and it doesn't do it on his, and he's not heard of it.
wonder if its some sort of glitch, try:
Boot the phone into recovery mode and clear the cache.
    1. Power off phone.
    2. Power on phone whilst holding down the volume down button (this takes slightly longer to react than you would expect and after the initial splash screen goes blank for a slightly un-nerving amount of time. But just wait).
    3. Enter the PIN/Password you use to unlock the phone when prompted.
    4. Choose a language.
    5. Choose "Wipe data and cache" (don't worry this is only a path to a submenu, it won't delete your data).
    6. Choose "Wipe cache" (IMPORTANT - MAKE SURE YOU DON'T TAP ERASE EVERYTHING).
    7. It will confirm that you have selected clear cache and ask you to say YES.
    8. When it says success choose "Reboot"

Followed steps 1-2 but when I get to a black screen with the 1+ logo and enter my unlock PIN it attempts to decrypt and then comes back to the prompt again.

How do I get out of this screen? I can't log on and holding down the power button doesn't reboot/shutdown the device.

it seems like you have odd issues if its not decrypting with your PIN. You should be able to get out of it by pressing and holding the power button to power off and then powering on again. Would suggest you contact OnePlus support re the device, as things don't sound right > https://www.oneplus.com/support

Holding down the power button doesn't do anything. It's still stuck on the screen with the 1+ logo and a keyboard asking for a password.

talked to support and they couldn't help. said now i have to wait for a remote session with Level 2. This is crazy.

Level 2 support wanted to reflash my phone. Absolutely bonkers.

Was messing around just trying to find some combo that would get me out of that screen and found that holding Power + Volume Up for 10sec or so turned it off. Really don't understand 1) why my buttons do something different than everyone else and 2) why I can't log into recovery mode using my PIN.

I've got the same damn issue...since I got the phone! I went to do a screenshot and it happened, that's when I realized why I had been missing calls. I had thought I was just hitting vol down while holding it and realizing it.

I don't understand how a button combination can act as a shortcut, but wasn't programmed for it? Anyway, Byron, did you ever get a resolution?

This is the notification that pops up when the button combo is pressed...one again, they have a notification for it, but it wasn't intentional?!?

I really hate this button combination too and really want to disable it. I constantly miss calls unless I notice it right away and have to move the slider up and down to fix it. I wonder if the common thing is the T-Mobile variant of the 6T since that's what I have. I asked the same thing on Reddit and people thought I was crazy since no one seems to be able to replicate it.

I have to use volume lock app to make my 7t pro ignore the vibrate mode shortcut. not optimal because the message notification sound is barely noticeable. I can't select my own notification.

I m having this same issue with my 8t that I've had for about two weeks now. After reading all these posts and comments, I covered the sensor on my phone to mimic pocket mode and did the vol up plus power button and it set everything to vibrate. when I try to do it uncovered, it won't let me. try turning pocket mode off in your settings.
