Problem in setting up Fingerprint in 8T via OnePlus 8T

I received my OnePlus 8T this morning and while setting up the fingerprint unlock, I faced constant issues regarding the same. It constantly told a message that 'Fibgerprint Scanning Area is Dirty', even if I wiped it with clean cloth multiple times.

It got out of the menu after the message pops up after 5-7 times in one constant try. So it literally took me more than 10 attempts to set my fingerprint.

Anybody facing the same issue or anyone having knowledge, please let me know.

If you are using tampered glass then it might cause the problem. Delete fingerprint data and try again. If you still face the issue visit service center.

Of course using the tempered glass, even the one pre-applied on the device out of the box. But I feel it should not create this much of a problem.

In fact, the problem is only in setting up the fingerprint, not the unlocking. So glass is not a problem definitely.

You are using pre-applied screen protector and tampered glass!?

Yes, I am using pre-applied screen protector. Just a single glass it is.

I have read 3 other such threads with same issue.

How and why does the glass make a difference ? And that too, only while setting up, not while unlocking. Glass definitely is not a problem as per my view.

Sensor can't read the finger with certain kind of tampered glass. And you don't need to use both.

    1) No, I said it's just a single one, not both.

    2) And again, if it can't read, it shouldn't even unlock. But it does unlock and is problematic while setting up only. So, that's the case and question here.

    Regards.

Yes of course a software issue but this was to ask if any reliable solution is available.
You can't compromise on a brand new device of 40k+, right ?
So let's see, if an update comes early, will see otherwise gonna do something else like returning the product or so...

As if I didn't know this. Haha. Thanks for the suggestion by the way. But I have been using OnePlus 3 since 2016 And I couldn't find a better alternative in terms of Oxygen OS / UI. So I have to find some other way round.

The last option is there though....

I've had the same problem, from day 1 brand new op8t with the pre applied screen protector, and with tempered glass, same issue.
Calling support tomorrow, may send it back since nobody has responded with a bug fix or similar
