I think we can probably conclude by now that this issue can not be solved through regular settings :)

I bet you this is a sacrifice they had to make to keep battery level equal with OPO/OP2.. A fix will affect battery life for sure, the question is how much.

I've disabled doze via ADB and so far I can't see any difference in battery life, it's certainly minimal and I would be far happier if I had the choice without having to fart around to do it.

Well, one day of testing with Doze completely disabled with my usual usage patterns left me with enough remaining battery. SOT currently at 3.30 hours.

I have found that using 3rd party launcher solved my problems , im on Nova Pro and no issues so far get all notifications from all apps and whatsup too . I find the stock launcher has issues with notification just like stock android on nexus 5x , so Novo has solved this problem on both for me.

I think it has something to do with pure android, never had this problem on samsung only nexus and oneplus.

This is total crap! Shame on Google and shame on the manufactures who stood by and let this happen. What good is a "stupid" smart phone. No notifications equals no use to me!

Maybe we aren't getting responses from OnePlus because they all use OP3 and aren't getting notified....

Well, I was set to order a OP3, but after reading this entire thread I think I'll be looking for something else. It's too bad because otherwise this looks like a terrific phone. Like many have mentioned in this thread, push notifications are absolutely vital.

Oneplus should at least back Doze off from "Not Optimized" apps so we have an option.

Thanks Customer for finding the root cause coz you are not only just a customer but lab rats to test sh**ty OOS. The price you pay is only for hardware  that's how we roll and sell cheap phones ;)
The phones are not for common people but for dev's so they can themselves look for the issue and a fix too :p as we wanted to compete with Nexus :)
Hence our motto #NeverSettle(for OP) coz you won't be able to :D

    3, turn the screen off.
    4, wait
    5, send yourself an email
