Also having this issue, have downloaded a heartbeat fixer app and will see if the problem persists. Concerned that this might be a battery drain...

Are you on Whatsapp Beta ? There is another thread on the same issue and seems like Whatsapp beta 2.16.129 had issues. If so, could you upgrade it to 2.16.130 and check ?

If you've downloaded PNF let me know if it works for you. I used the no root version and it didn't help. No battery drain on my side.

Also having this issue, but for me it's also affecting apps other than Whatsapp. So whilst the Whatsapp update is nice, there seems to be a bigger issue here (at least on my OP3).

Wondering if the people posting here about the Whatsapp issue are also having this issue with any other apps?

Yeah, not just WhatsApp notification delay here but also Gmail and other apps that use push notifications like BBC News, The Guardian, Livesport, Twitter...

I've got the impacted apps out of battery optimization and have their notifications set to priority. Still no help.

Just tried a factory reset (also wiped data/cache from recovery mode, I'm on OOS 3.1.2), and used a brand new Google account to set things up (just to make sure it wasn't some weird bug in my decades old Google account). Same issue. Then tried without wifi connection, same issue. Meh :(

Noticed similar stuff. Woke up this morning and my Moto G3 had notifications that my OP3 didn't have, despite the same accounts.

This is extremely troubling. I depend on my phone to notify me right away when I get work emails or other messages. I don't want to resort to checking my phone every 5 minutes to keep it from going into Doze mode.

Has oneplus said anything official about this?

Not being able to receive notifications is a deal breaker for me and I'm thinking of returning my op3.

Yes exactly, notifications are the main reason for having a phone, i am returning mine.

Very annoying issue, but what I find weird about this all is that this does not seem to affect everyone...makes me wonder if it's related to some specific setting(s)?
