    Thanks Graham.
So assuming Samsung have an active whitelist and GMail is not battery optimised (any current/ex S6/S7 users able to confirm the default optimisation setting for GMail) are Samsung users getting normal priority GMail notifications when phone is in doze? If so, how do you think they are pulling this off?

Samsung jiggery pokery, clever use of doze mode timing, global timer polling intervals,
and actually using android M's "Whitelist" feature..
    .. I suspect..;)

I wonder how hard Google would push the mighty Samsung over a breach of the rules compared to a certain smaller OEM .....?

I have both in my hands (op3 and s7). Send an email to myself and s7 has no lag at all, op3 sometimes takes 1 minute to receive, even with the doze script fix instaled...

Thanks for this. On your S7, could you have a look under Settings>Battery>3 dot menu, top right>Battery Optimization>Select "Not Optimized" and see what apps, if any, are in this list?

I don't think Samsung have completely "disabled" doze per se..
just found some creative ways to delay it kicking in..
like setting the idle timer to 2 hours, as they can do this
because the exynos processor is pretty energy efficient,
and allowing apps to be placed into the "whitelist"
and Samsung have a clever way of checking for their
own "store" and system updates by using a global system wake timer setting
to check these updates at regular intervals, I feel sure Samsung
would have built this into being able to counteract doze..
So just clever usage of workarounds,
    without actually disabling it.
    Google had to certify it..

Hi everyone, I live in Spain and I have recently bought OP3 (EU) and I have a question for you. The thing is that I have never heard of any spanish buyer complaining about this notification issue and I have asked it in several forums. And in addition, I have seen lots of OP3 reviews and the same thing: no one has complained about it. So my question is, does this issue affects only few devices? I mean, as far as I understand this is is a problem that could be fixed by Oneplus with software update, but I can´t understand why some devices have problems with notifications and others not. Because all OP3 devices have the same software right?

I would appreciate if anyone could answer this point because In really interested in this thread. Hope my OP3 will not have this issue when I receive it next week.

Hi Graham, I do use gmail. And Whasapp. And Im a little bit worried because my OP3 arrives next week and this issue is not acceptable in my opinion because in fact those are critical apps in my daily use. But as I said, all this notification issues sound weird to me because I have never seen this in OP3 reviews and peple from several forums told me that they didn't have this problem.

There are no push notification issues on Cyanogenmod whatsoever... and never were. Wait for stable release and all of you can try...

    Answer to your Question is:
If you use Gmail your notifications (out of the box)
    will be delayed.
You can use my simple adb disable doze command fix
to cure this issue. it does not require root,
but you will need to do the fix every time you
reboot or turn the phone off.
WhatsApp has been fixed and is now no longer affected.
