Does rooting / unlocking bootloader void warranty?
The technical process of rooting or unlocking the bootloader does not void the warranty of the OnePlus 5T. However, we strongly suggest for you to only root or unlock the bootloader of the OnePlus 5T if you are confident that you understand the risks involved.

By accessing resources regularly unavailable to software, the process may damage your hardware during or after the procedure, which is not covered under warranty. In warranty handling, we will need to verify that any faulty behavior is unrelated to rooting / unlocking first.

Is there a pre-applied screen protector?
A standard screen protector is pre-applied (professionally fitted) at the factory as gift and to minimise damage. It is not a premium or tempered glass.

Is there a case included with the phone?
A dark translucent TPU case is included in the box :) , in the red pull-out container.

Will other chargers work with the OnePlus 5T?
Other 5V chargers (and Quick Chargers) should work with the OnePlus 5T but you may not achieve the maximum charging speeds that you can using the included/official DASH adaptor and cable. Therefore, it is recommended to use the official DASH adaptor and cable.

How to install ADB and fastboot:

    Filename: adb-setup_1.4.3.exe

    Download this file: Credit @Snoop05

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/mcxw0yy3jvydupd/adb-setup-1.4.3.exe?dl=0

Locate the file, right click and run as administrator.

    Press Y at each step:

    How to unlock bootloader:

Make sure to backup important files as unlocking bootloader will wipe files and data on your device.

After you have installed the drivers, ADB and fastboot, you can proceed to unlocking your bootloader.

    1) Enable USB debugging and OEM unlock

Go to Settings>About Phone>Tap Build number 7 times.

Go to Settings>Developer's Options>Enable USB debugging

Also in Settings>Developer's Options, Enable OEM unlock, type in your PIN/Pattern/Pass code.
    2) Connect your OnePlus 5T to your computer

Select Always allow from this computer and click OK (You may not get this prompt)
    3) Boot your OnePlus 5T into Bootloader/Fastboot mode (POWER + VOLUME UP)

    4) Whilst in Bootloader/Fastboot mode, connect your OnePlus 5T to your PC and allow the drivers to install.

    5) Open a command window

For this you have to open a folder
    Hold shift and right click
Choose Open a command window / PowerShell window here
    [IMG]

    6) Power off your OnePlus 5T then boot into fastboot mode. (POWER + VOLUME UP)

    7) Connect your OnePlus 5T to your PC via USB.

    8) Run this code to ensure fastboot is working.

    Code:
    fastboot devices
If it returns with your serial number you can continue with the process, if not you need to ensure your drivers are correctly setup.

To unlock your OnePlus 5T, run this code:

    Code:
    fastboot oem unlock
This will begin the unlock process on your OnePlus 5T and will come up with a new screen on your device. Choose Yes and it will reboot automatically.
    9) To make sure that the bootloader has been unlocked, reboot the phone into fastboot mode. Open a command window and run this code:

    Code:
    fastboot oem device-info

    It should return with:

Device tampered: true (for some people this may say false but still work)
    Device unlocked: true

    How to install custom recovery:
    1) Enable USB debugging

Go to Settings>About Phone>Tap Build number 7 times.

Go to Settings>Developer's Options>Enable USB debugging & OEM Unlocking.

    2) Download the TWRP recovery file and place it on your computer:

    https://twrp.me/oneplus/oneplus5t.html

[If you want to return to STOCK RECOVERY: see below - official not available yet]

For whatever recovery you are using make sure to rename it recovery.img and not recovery.img.img

    3) Boot your OnePlus 5T into fastboot mode (POWER + VOLUME UP)

    4) Open a command window in the folder where your recovery.img file is.

For this you have to open a folder
    Hold shift and right click
Choose Open a command window / PowerShell window here

    5) Run this code to flash recovery:

    Code:
    fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

    6) Boot into recovery by unplugging your phone from the PC and hold POWER and VOLUME DOWN.

    7) Once in recovery, reboot from there (select system) and swipe to disable stock recovery.

How to root your OnePlus 5T:
First of all, you need to make sure you have a custom recovery installed (check the instructions above)

    1) Save this SuperSU zip or Magisk zip to your phone's internal storage:

    SuperSU - Magisk
    (I recommend Magisk over SuperSU)
    2) Boot into recovery mode (POWER + VOLUME DOWN)

    3) Click Install

    4) Select the SuperSU OR Magisk zip and Swipe to confirm flash

DO NOT FLASH MORE THAN ONE

    5) Once done, Wipe Dalvik/ART Cache and Cache and reboot

To verify root, install Root Checker from the Play Store

How to make a Nandroid Backup with TWRP:
Nandroid Backups are important as they backup your stock system, so in case you ruin your phone you can roll back to the Nandroid Backup (similar to Windows system image) via TWRP.

    1) To create a Nandroid Backup, enter recovery mode (TWRP)

    2) Select Backup

    3) Select Boot, Recovery, System, Data, Cache and EFS

    4) Swipe to backup (this may take some time)

    5) Once done, reboot to system

    How to backup EFS:
    Credit: @Naman Bhalla
    1) Install Terminal Emulator on your phone and open it up.
    2) Enable root access by entering this code:

    Code:
    su
    3) Grant SuperSU/Superuser access
    4) Enter these commands:

    Code:
    dd if=/dev/block/sdf1 of=/sdcard/modemst1.bin bs=512
    Code:
    dd if=/dev/block/sdf2 of=/sdcard/modemst2.bin bs=512
    5) Go to a file manager and locate the files within your Internal Storage, and back them up to safe places such as your PC, Cloud Storage etc

    Restore EFS Backup:
    Credit: @Funk Wizard @Naman Bhalla
    1) Boot your OnePlus 5T into bootloader/fastboot mode
    2) Connect your OnePlus 5T to your PC using a USB cable
    3) In the folder containing the modemst1.bin and modemst2.bin files, open a command window:

For this you have to open a folder
    Hold shift and right click
Choose Open a command window / PowerShell window

    4) Use these commands to restore your EFS:

    Code:
    fastboot flash modemst1 modemst1.bin
    Code:
    fastboot flash modemst2 modemst2.bin

    5) Reboot your phone by using this command:
    Code:
    fastboot reboot

You can now disconnect your phone from your PC, and your IMEI should be restored.

    Restore Nandroid Backup:
    Credit: @Funk Wizard @Naman Bhalla
    1. Boot into TWRP Recovery (VOLUME DOWN + POWER)
    2. [Only and Only if you want to restore /system and /data too from the Backup] Wipe > Advanced Wipe > Select Dalvik + System + Data + Cache > Swipe to Wipe. Go back to TWRP Home.
    3. Go to Restore Menu and select the backup you want to restore.
    4. Select the partitions you want to restore.
    5. Swipe to Restore. The process will take some time.
    6. Reboot

    Signed flashable zips:
    Credit: @Titokhan

These are full ROM zips that can be flashed in stock / custom recoveries. If rooted, you must use a custom recovery and reflash SuperSU/Magisk after flashing ROM.

    Please check this thread HERE

    OTA incremental zips
    Credit: @Titokhan

These are partial ROM zips that can be flashed in STOCK recovery providing there are no changes to the system.

Netflix (and other video apps) aren't HD:
This is due to a software DRM limitation. The OnePlus 5T currently supports Google's Widevine DRM at a Level 3. However, a Level 1 is needed for HD playback.
    ----
EDIT: This cannot be done through a firmware update, if you'd like to have the ability to watch Netflix etc in HD you will have to send your device to OnePlus so they can apply the DRM fix.

It can only be done this way as the device encryption keys are only allowed to be stored on OnePlus' computers.

To arrange this please contact OnePlus support
The whole process should not take longer than 5 days, and is available for free (Inc courier costs) in North America, Europe, India, and China.

Be aware that you will probably lose all of your data so back up anything important before sending in. Also, consider factory resetting before sending in to protect sensitive information.

I am not an expert by any mean so perhaps wait for some other feedback along the way... however I read that OnePlus devices are sold in two variants: Chinese and Global version. Chinese version works only in China, whereas the Global version works in all the countries. However, 4G compatibility varies - on the Oneplus Site during the purchase process you have the possibility to check the compatibility of the region you are buying from. You can check here: https://willmyphonework.net/ - for seeing other countries.

I wish the on screen back and previous app buttons should be more to respective corners of the screen as 5T screen is a bit wide. I am finding it a bit hard to locate them, blame it on OP3 which I was using earlier.
    What say?

In this "Unlock Bootloader" tutorial, it mentions "connect to PC" in section 2, 4, and 7, but never says to disconnect. Can I assume once connected (#2), that there's no need to disconnect after that? 5T arriving Tuesday, just getting my day organized.
