[Q] Why does USB-C standard prevent Fast Charge?

    Yash98 , Oct 7, 2015 :
Why does the USB-C standard limit fast charge?

    EDIT:
    1) USB-C does not limit fast charge.
    2) OnePlus chose not to buy the license for Qualcomm proprietary fast charging technology and it requires hardware changes... So no software update will bring Qualcomm QuickCharging to OnePlus 2.
    3) No, Marshmallow will not enable fast charging on your one plus 2.
    4) 1+2 does not seem to have a proper USB-C port, its just a reversible connector which looks like an USB-C port. (Not sure, reading from the answers)
    4) OnePlus 2 supports USB-C based fast charging (see Nexus 6P fast charging for details) (not Qualcomm Quick Chage 1/2/3 and neither are turbo chargers compatible)
    5) It fast charges using Nexus 6P charger

It doesn't, the new nexus phones have USB type C and they are fast charge enabled.

Oneplus becomes too hot when charging, I think fastCharge will make it hotter.

It's the processor I believe. I don't think the SD810 supports it. Oneplus also said that they would've had to make the phone thicker to accommodate a larger USB module, although I don't think that's entirely true.

I think the construction of the OPT itself is what limits fast charge.

I believe all QC flagship chipsets since the 801 (maybe even before) have support for quick charge.

    810 specifications https://www.qualcomm.com/products/snapdragon/processors/810

    Quick Charge
Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 technology, up to 3A out, supports Parallel Charging

It doesn't, and, if you read the specs at the usb.org website, concerning usb-c you will find another "mis-statement" by Oppo/OnePlus. They DO NOT have a usb-c PORT, they have a usb-c "like" connector.
A TRUE usb-c PORT has the plug-in-any-direction connector, AND a usb 3.1 PORT,
which has the fast charge/data transfer.
Once again, Oppo/OnePlus "stretched" the truth a bit claiming to be the first cellphone manufacturer with a "Usb-c" PORT by saying something like "The first to have usb-c"
and leaving it at that, making everyone THINK they stuck to the usb.org, which makes the specs to make usb work around the world, specs for a TRUE usb-c device.

    http://www.usb.org/developers/usbtypec/
Full specs are at the bottom of this page, where the usb 3.1 specs, that are used in the usb-c port are revealed.

You just can't trust these people.

Yes you are right I had Galaxy note 4 and have Galaxy s6 currently and both heat up when fast charging and I know that heat kills battery life so I try not to use it all the time except for emergencies.
Once for some reason my note 4 got so HOT I couldn't touch the screen even when the phone was turned off.

According to Qualcomm, the 810 DOES support fast charging. Either Oppo/OnePlus, doesn't turn it on, or didn't license it to use it, or, they want to save it for the upcoming Oppo Find9, which is a more superior version of the OnePlus2. (and of course, sells for a lot more money)

"The Snapdragon 810 fully supports Qualcomm® WiPower™ for Wireless Charging. The Qualcomm® Quick Charge™ 2.0 has been integrated for super fast battery charging."

how is that possible.I think we also need a quick charger for that and d license from qualcomm too. and Qualcomm Quick Charge technology is designed into a product by the manufacturer

I suspect it will need a battery designed for that as well .like to wireless charge you need the battery with the airiel thing built onto and under the plastic battery cover

It would be nice if they could switch it on with just a software command, but I believe that something has to be physically done to the processor before it will allow quick charging of the phone.

No dude android Lollipop does not support USB-C so OPT does not have fast charging feature yet. once OPT has Android M it OPT will have fast charging feature.
