The front of the phone would look better if FS was on the back, but from functionality reasons on the front is just were it should be

When your finger position is on the back you must be using the phone already and you don't need to lock/unlock the phone at that point of time as it is not so common (in my opinion) that people use to carry there phones in hand all the time. On the other hand, putting it on the front will help in unlocking the device when it is lying on the desk (or whatever) without the need to lift it !

When my phone is locked I just pick it up, since most of the time I'll be holding it for a longer period. It's really convenient. At least, that's my opinion.;)

I voted for Front, but I think that also a fingerprint sensor on the back makes sense.
The side ones are the worst (and yes, please Sony stop making your smartphone that way!)

I hate fingerprint sensors on the back, I just don't get it. And it was one of my main reasons for picking the OP2 over the OppoR7

But like various people have said, it is simply preference. I think it can be agreed that the side is the worst, impractical and just a general pain.

and when you are in the office and phone is on desk... doesit matter how long is the finger? easier is just to place a finger on the FP scanner... no doubts that phone is placed with display looking at you ;)

I voted for front. Back could be ok too (tried with a Honor 7), but useless if at work the smartphone is on a desk. In the side is really bothersome (tried on Z5 compact by Sony).

Personally, I don't like fingerprint scanners.
Looks like based on the pole, most want one on the front of the phone, which to me seems odd!
With it on the front, it makes one handed operation a little awkward, as compared to having one on the back.
