Personally I think finger print scanner is good for only one thing. Unlocking your phone. But if your phone gets lost or stolen then it just needs a factory reset and then that security feature is rendered inadequate.
What Google/Android should do is set it up as only that finger print will ever open that phones IMEI number. If you sell it or give it away, you contract Google to de-register it the same way you do with a Kindle with Amazon.
I can see a benefit for Google wallet & PayPal but if you're shopping all day long and having to keep getting your phone out every time, its going to get a bit tedious, IMHO.
Good future feature but not fully supported or utilised as yet if you ask me.
    Just my 2 penth worth.

I voted for front ! this is the best place to put a finger print scanner. the phone I'm using has FP sensor on the back but I prefer it to have it at front it's more convenient also comfortable to use.:):)

Why dont you fix the fingerprint scanner you have ob oneplus 2 then ask for the placement for new one...
    Your question should be this
"what quality of fingerprint scanner hardware would you like the one on iphone 6 or the crappy one on oneplus 2". Stop fooling everyone @Adamkrisko

seeing as to how I always use a flip wallet case for my phones I'd prefer the sensor to be on the front, but I'd like to see how they would design the phone as if it was on the back.

Yeah, I wasn't saying that phones haven't done it. I'm thinking that OnePlus don't do that. For them, aesthetics are pretty important. If you have a front fingerprint scanner with front facing speakers, you'll probably have a longer chin.

But if you ask me, they're not going to have both. Remember OnePlus's main drive is making premium-feeling budget phones.

OP2 has it exactly right. Front with home button single tap AND software enabled double tap/ long tap options. Awesome.

I also like the placement of the FP scanner on my OP2. Front in the future for me. Doesn't make any sense to have it on the back, you would physically have to pick up the device every time you wanted to unlock it?

According to me it should be placed on the side over the lock button.
Will give a cool look and feel

Front because it is ideal for thumbs of any size and reachable to every finger.we can use while phone is on table
The problem with back is that when it is lying on a table you cannot unlock phone unless you pick it up to read your finger
