    Cannot be uninstalled

Does it mean you can still disable the shortcut like some pre-installed apps or is it like the recorder app which you cannot even disable?

App cannot be uninstalled is still okay if we get the option to at least disable the app.

from what I see the community is completely against it ( including me ) , the question unclear to me .. does it mean only the pre installed app will support HDR and we need to take a subscription to it ?

but I have a feeling OnePlus might still do it like removing the headphone jack even after poll

OnePlus is becoming a more of business oriented even though they market themselves as community oriented

If anything isn't required, and CAN'T be uninstalled, then I'm against it. If it can be installed, I wouldn't mind having it.

    Noooo.
Let me be blunt here, HDR on 6 inch screen is just a gimmicks guys, these streaming companies making us fool, what you guys have microscopic eyes or what? No human eye can differentiate between Full HD or 4k & HDR on 6 inch screen. Plz just stop this bullsit.

You can appreciate HDR only on Bigger screen.

And even if it meant something i will still say NO.
No ununinstallble ( this word though, made many ppl confused) crap on my OnePlus.. Period...

Is this an alternative to paying licensing fees or extra revenue? Or is it both?
Either way it's a big no unless it is can be completely uninstalled.
Also, could you please provide a toggle switch in settings, like xiaomi, to turn off the ads (should be ready by Op8)

No , Double No And no to future apps that cannot be uninstalled. I came to the OnePlus product because of the OS being clean. oxygen clean. or change the name to carbon dioxide. or toxic. NO.

My question is the app thingy, when you boot your phone or unlock are you going to have to swipe away a advertisement first every time. harassment ?

I think the question of HDR video streaming on phones is a fruitless endeavor. While screens have gotten bigger and brighter I still think they are too small to really notice a discernable difference in HDR content vs Non-HDR.

It's a nice marketing thing to put on the box, but is largely unnecessary. If it can be added without ruining the overall experience, then sure why not. But if an uninstallable app is what enables it then it's not really worth it.

Possibly OP does not want to make the phone more expensive and dodge paying for licenses by using an app stub. Makes sense, users win, free HDR, jeej...

Definitely, user won't win. Nothing is for free and there will be some "catch" for getting it cheaply. OP should include it without strings attached or make special premium pay for those who would like it on their phones. I for one prefer clean OOS without premium stuff than bloatware.
