here how it's going to be.
OnePlus will give you the option of either Installing or not Installing.
my guess is that 90% will install.
    case closed.
for future phones maybe they will come pre-installed and you will know after you have purchased the phone
    anyway OnePlus still wins.

Why can't the app provide HDR when we download it from Play? Why is the app stub required???

As long as it can be disabled and does not run any background services once disabled. Popular example against this being Facebook services

uninstallating an application is not the same thing as disabling an app, you didn't bother reading my post did you?

I did... Let me spell it out because your too thick to read the post, it won't be removable nor will you be able to disable it

    manangupta2001, Jan 29, 2019 :
Disabling is not the same thing as removing/uninstalling an app... Drm keys can be retained even if you disable an app ie NOT removing the base hex file. Let me repeat once more, NOT the same thing.

why do you need HDR streaming?

now a days people have brilliant eyesight (sarcasm) which will not let you spot the difference between HD/1080P and HDR. So why to emphasize on HDR and have special apps for the same.

Netflix unfortunately decreases bitrate of non-hdr streams, which means while, you may be streaming at hd - the image will appear very blocky! Looks pretty shoddy tbh.
look into linustechtips video on this.

But how will a pre installed app help improve Netflix streaming

    manangupta2001, Jan 29, 2019 :
The stub will allow our device to stream HDR content on Netflix, without which Netflix won't let us. The reason for which, I am not aware. Regardless the video quality would be somewhat improved : ). rest is up to you!

I like to have HDR content on my phone, but not if the the content provider dictate us to have an uninstallable app stub or anything at all which we can not uninstall.. respect the user choice.. as a user I would like to pay a few extra fee for hdr content than having an uninstallable app
