Factory Reset will definitely erase all the data including the saved fingerprints! And thus the phone will not retain the fingerprint information.

Of course I expect a factory reset to wipe my finger print data and have voted "Yes".

For me to complete that step means that I am selling the phone, most likely to someone I do not know. A factory reset should remove all trace of my usage on that device.

If I'm honest, I'm a little surprised that OnePlus are asking this question? Does this mean that currently a Factory Reset does not wipe the data?

I definately would assume that factory reset also clears your finger print data. This is feature that is used (and I personally have used) when selling or giving the device forward. I would not be comfortable knowing that my fingerprint (or any other data for that matter) to still exist in the device after it is no longer in my posession.

    So two things:
    1. First of all to me it is a security concern if fingerprint data persists through a factory reset.
    2. The function is called "factory reset" which suggests that the device will be reset to THE EXACT state as it was when it left the factory. And this is what I expect it to do. If you plan to leave fingerprints, then you also need to reconsider the name of the feature.

An option for keeping fingerprint would be beter, but I voted that the fingerprint also needs to be deleted. The reason I do a Factory reset is almost everytime because I sell my device.

I would expect it to forget it. As most people before they sell on or give their device away would perform a factory reset, so I would expect this to wipe the stored fingerprints. I wouldn't want some random person having my fingerprints

Wonder who will win the scotch? Let us know @Mike

I honestly don't care, as long as it actually works. Which it doesn't on a stupidly large amounts of your phones, including mine.

Fingerprint must be deleted with a factory reset. If I want to sell my phone, I want to delete all data including the fingerprint.

if it's called "factory reset" it's supposed to clear everything! the fingerprint may be configured on first boot...

Hmmm... Interesting point, but wouldn't it matter, if all data is wiped anyway?

Do you mean that it should be locked with the fingerprint so that if you for example lost the phone and someone found it, they could NOT do a factory reset and gain access to the phone because the fingerprint lock was not wiped away and would still keep the phone locked after a factory reset?o_O
