RCS is not supported on OnePlus 6 (Rolling out now in the UK and France)

I realised today that I did not have RCS because my phone did not support it. I spent months blaming blaming network providers and switching between them whereas OnePlus was the one to blame. Can we know the reason behind the lack of this feature?

From what I read, the network providers actually choose what device can have RCS. But it's about to change https://www.xda-developers.com/google-android-rcs-support-uk-france/

    Spot on @ngydat! :)

Google are taking RCS, (Rich Communication Suite), out of the hands of the carriers, some of whom were insisting on their own faux, ersatz, versions of RCS, (no names mentioned... T-Mobile/AT&T/Verizon/Bell/SK Telecom), and are rolling it out themselves on their own Universal Profile...

GOOGLE IS FINALLY TAKING CHARGE OF THE RCS ROLLOUT

I would love to know if any oneplus users have it yet and what network they are on. I've seen people saying they already have it (from a range of networks) since yesterday but no one has said what devices they are using.

Same problem here in France. I wonder if it is from Google's side or OnePlus' one.

It's carrier-based (for now) but Google is starting to implement their own now.

I have been doing that. I kept complaining on every social media while mentioning both OnePlus and Google, but got no response.

In Portugal Vodafone supports RCS. I had it active on google message app, after a few days went off.
If i clear storage from message app, can activate again, but after some days goes off again.

Google's / carrier problem not OnePlus man also might have something to do with the public beta, either way you won't get a solution here...

Don't get me wrong, i was just stating my feedback. I know it is not a Oneplus problem.
If i thought it was, would submit feedback instead writing.

Agreed fat lot of use at the moment until it's more widespread, can't understand why Google left it to carriers. They are lazy more so when the can't make cash out of it..

The original reason was so that carriers / OEMs own SMS clients would all be supported. However, since carriers dragged their feet for so long, Google gave them the finger and said "screw you, we'll do it ourselves" with the Google Messages client.

Yup at least two years too late.... As much as it pains me to say one up to crapple on this one... They have had this sort of thing for many years..
