    @oryanol

Please could you let us know your carrier, any phone mods you have and anything special you did to access it?
I am on UK Voda. My chat setting seems to be perpetually trying to set up my number and my wife's oneplus doesn't have the feature at all (like your OP).

First, you need to have Google Messages installed on your phone and set as the Default SMS app.

Then open the Google Messages app and select the 3 dot menu > Settings > Chat features... if RCS messaging is available for your device, it will ask you to connect. Bear in mind that this is still rolling out in the U.K. and France

    Check

Done all this. As explained I'm puzzled by the fact that both my wife and I have oneplus 6's, we are both on the same network and we have different outcomes to the above instructions. It sounds as though my phone is trying to set itself up but failing. My OTH's phone fails at the first hurdle. To me that suggests phone system setup issues.

Hi. I have EE (sim1) and O2 (sim2), I didn't install any mods or anything. I just got the prompt and it worked. However it took longer to activate.

That's useful to know. So it could still be a network related issue, I guess.

Try... Settings > Apps & notifications > See all ??? apps > Messages > Storage > Clear cache and Clear Storage. Reboot the phones. Some have reported that this helps.

I did clear the cache but I'm loathe to clear the storage for obvious reasons. I'll go away, backup 1st and then try! ;)

For those of you interested, I cleared my messages app cache and storage. I then rebooted, made sure my DNS was pointed to Google servers and I am now connected.
    :)

Perhaps, now would be a good time to change the title of this thread to, say... "RCS messaging rolling out worldwide", @oryanol

(You can change the title of your own thread by selecting, "Thread Tools", and "Edit Title")

When I select edit, it's only allowing me to edit the content, but not the title. Or should I use the desktop website?

I use the desktop website in Google Chrome. "Thread Tools", appears at the top of your first post.

RCS in Google Messages is now fully rolled out in the U.K. and France says Hiroshi Lockheimer, a senior vice president at Google...

"the company has completed its rollout of RCS to the UK and France after starting a few weeks prior. Almost exactly a month ago, RCS started working on Pixel devices through the Google Messaging app in those countries, and recently it’s started to expand to other Android smartphones."

"Notably, Locheimer’s tweet was in reply to an article criticizing US carriers for their lack of effort when it comes to rolling out universally compatible RCS messaging for Android users. Lockheimer chimed in that Google would still “love” to work with US carriers on that initiative and that they are “trying” to do so. Still, he mentions that Google’s own RCS rollout will continue with more countries “soon,” although there’s no indication if the United States is on the list."

I have a 6T/US/TMobile. I noticed that the stock messaging app has RCS. It worked for a second on the Google message and went away.

Unfortunately, the T-Mobile (USA) ersatz RCS is not yet fully compatible with the worldwide Google Messages Universal Profile... see... USA Carriers Detailed

Also, Googles Messages has not been rolled out in the USA as yet. See...
