It is possible to recover some, if not all, of the data if:

    1. You were not encrypted before the reset
    2. You have not put much back on the partition
    3. You have experience with forensic data recovery

If you don't have experience, it will be a hard project. You will need to dump a raw image of the data partition and carve the data out using tools like FTK or Encase, but need to be careful how you do it as you could accidentally over right the data if you do the wrong thing.

There are blogs out there that can help you figure out how to do it. Alternately, you can send the phone off to a service, or pay someone like myself to help you.

This would be the more sensible option, seeing as though the TC is inexperienced. That being said, it is likely to be quite costly.

You can certainly recover the files if you're looking to get them off an SD card. Here's how you do it -

DiskDigger is a very good app for android. I've recovered with the pro version all my music and pictures.

When you perform a factory reset on Android, you will return the device to the condition it was when shipped from the factory. A factory data reset can help fix most issues that occur on Android. Any incorrect settings, glitches, bugs, viruses, or software problems on the device will be wiped clean.

But the files deleted from an Android phone aren't actually wiped from its memory. Instead, the files are only marked as deleted and invisible. The system will write data over those files in the future. You can later use specialized data recovery tool to scan the Android memory for recovering deleted file after factory reset.
