    technically, going from 1080 to 720 isn't MORE. it's LESS. :p

I remember changing my resolution on an HTC One X, but it caused much frustration, compatibility issues, and a lot of the times the full screen was not used to display the image, so it was more trouble than it was worth. A simple integrated solution would be welcome though.

Actually it boosts gaming performance (specially 3d game). There's an xposed module called "app settings" to change resolution for each app (720p for gaming, then revert back to 1080p), but unfortunately it doesn't support CM12.1 (5.1.1). Using "manual" method like terminal emulator is not practical though...

if you adjust the dpi correctly (after you lower the resolution, everything will looks bigger, so you have to lower the dpi) I think on this particular screen size, the difference is negligible..
But then again, I prefer lowering resolution ONLY WHEN I open certain game though, not globally.

    1440 to 720 is noticable....
but I think 1080 to 720 is going to be very minor..

I'm happy with the screen and excellent battery life.
    Don't need a unused "feature" I think.
