Wednesday evening I received my Oppo Find 7a Astro Black, here are my first impressions un case You are willing to jump the OP ship like I did :

Packaging: 10/10: Absolute premium expérience !

Design: 8/10 Beautiful phone and carbon fiber finish: loved it, no compromises were made on the build construction, even if the plastic removzble back makes it feel less premium than my previous IPhone 5...

Screen: 10/10: Absolutely Gorgeous and flawless ! Was truly amazed by it, coming from an iphone...

ColorOS: 7,5/10: Lots of cool features, gedtures are truly useful and work perfectly. There are lots of thèmes to choose from, and thé caméra is OK. However, the software wasn't fluide/smooth ! Was extremely disappointed with that and almost wanted to go back to the iphone...Everything was noticeably slower on the Oppo...Still Maxx Audio is really impressive and I found the speakers outstanding with it !

Root/CM: Some people said I should flash cm11 on it, and that's what I did. The whole procédure was very easy thanks to the theunlockr tutorial.
And then came the real pleasure: everything sufdenly became as smooth as butter/as on my iphone ...What a relief ! Then I switched on ART and apps began opening/loading faster than on my iphone 5 :)
I then installed NOVA launcher pro to get the ultimate expérience:worked great.

    Caméra: ColorOS 7/10, CM 4,5/10:
Pics were OK on colorOs but still by far not as good as the iphone , which ils truly amazing: on the oppo, pics were more noisy, less smooth in général...
With CM however, pics became real bad compared to the iPhone with very low précision and quite a lot of noise toi along with suboptimal color reproduction (Should worry You as OPO carries CM by stock...).

Screen Size: after one day of use, i'm already convinced that 5,5inches isn't too big at all...it's perfect !

    Battery Life:,5/10 (more testing required)
Was very disappointed: 4h30 screentime on first full charge !!! Rudiculously low...However reports show that it improves significally after a few cycles...I hope !

Android Apps vs iPhone apps: iPhone apps are still far ahead un terms of optimisation and smoothness. I often felt that on the 5,5 inches screen, éléments were just blown up to full the space, sometimes showing less information on the 5,5 inches screen than on the 4 inches iPhone screen...

    Conclusion: 7/10
Design is great, screen is fantastic and smoothness is excellent in CM.However, photos are bad, battery life too for the moment and in-app smoothness isn't yet on par with my almost 2 years old iPhone 5, which certainly is very disappointing...
Si I still think IOS is superior to android (maybe in 2 months I will prefer android though ;-) ) but the screen quality and size outperform the thicked bezel small iPhone screen...

Hopefully this will help You make a décision between OPO and OPPO and feel free to ask me questions ;-)

Édit: forgot to say it doesn't heat at all :)
    Edit 2: Updated with pics

4.5 is pretty good, but I'm coming from a nexus 4 which struggles to hit 3 haha.

I have the find 7a and couldn't disagree more with the camera... I came from iphone and it is far and away better. Did you maybe set it on a lower resolution than it should be?

What I regret on the OPPO is two things most of people dream to have on the OPO: Replaceable battery: would have preferred by far a non replaceable 3100mah battery than a 2800mah...and the sd card storage: a 64gb internal storage would have been way faster and take the hassle off of manualy having to put random apps on it to avoid a storage saturation...
And actually, OPO would have cost me 320 euros with the shipping while the OPPO was 360 euros with student discount...so not a big deal for me... :)
