Rollback to A10 on T-Mobile version via OnePlus 6T T-Mobile

  1. smartinez281 , via OnePlus 6T T-Mobile , Dec 1, 2021 :
I have a T-Mobile 6T that just received the ota update to A11 and I want to go back to A10 because Android Auto doesn't seem to work with the new update.

I saw the thread here on post #1 - https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/oxygenos-android-11-open-beta-1-for-oneplus-6-6t.1464997/

I followed the instructions but I don't get an option to do local update (there is no icon on top right)

Any other way to downgrade back to A10 on the TMobile 6T?

That's the problem with a carrier locked phone, you can not control the os version you want to use.

I should add, you can do a factory reset. Just back up your data (except the apps) to the cloud or a pc first.

If I do a factory reset, won't that just reset based off the A11 image now?

Correct, but starting fresh can correct most issues, as long as you don't reintroduce them by restoring problem apps.

The problem with that is turns out from what I have read Android Auto does not work properly in A11. I need AA to work. I would hate to go through the whole process of factory resetting just to be back at square one.

And I get it - all because of the carrier. Maybe someone at xda has a solution 🤷‍♂️

The roll-back package in your link is for the global OnePlus 6T only.

You can downgrade your T-Mobile (USA) carrier minority variant by using the MSMDownloadTool for the TMO model, here...

    https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-msmdownloadtool-firmware-9-0-13-8-9.3868916/

It will of course, wipe your phone.

    Thanks for replying!

Funny thing is, I actually was given a 8T by my sister after me telling her my dilemma. I may not even the 6T after all but I will still try to downgrade it using your link if I don't like 8T.

UPDATE - I ended up downgrading the 6T back to A10 in the end but now am running into a separate issue. I will create a new thread since it is not same topic as this thread.
