Is it always necessary to unlock the bootloader first then root your android device??
what about apps like framaroot, towelroot etc. that gives root access..do these apps also require unlocked bootloader??

Those apps don't work, as far as I know(last I checked), on the OnePlus one.

Unlocking the bootloader is also the safest way to go.

No, you can root w/out unlocking the bootloader with those apps, if the device is supported ofcourse

    Yes you can actually.

Fastboot boot into TWRP and flash SuperSU from there you don't need an unlocked bootloader to boot into TWRP you just can't flash it

    nope

Yep, but to be honest it's a good thing it was "fixed". If someone wanted to steal your data, they could easily use fastboot to do it, if your bootloader was unlocked.

Don't you need an unlocked bootloader to flash twrp in the first place? ;)

You need an unlocked bootloader to do ANYTHING with fastboot.

What are you talking about? "fastboot oem lock" locks the bootloader again. I don't see the problem there?

Wasn't my phone, I helped another dude unlock it and I tried fastboot flash before I did oem unlock to check if it maybe was already unlocked because he wasn't sure and it was not because it told me that the device was locked.
