    Guys , I'm still running the basic stock recovery (CM)
    Is it possible to root my OnePlus from there by 'installing update' of the superuser.zip ?

    No it will fail. Simply flash TWRP recovery and when you reboot to system it'll ask you if you want supersu to be flashed.
