Awesome - thanks @Martin Hotmann ! What is the difference between CWM and TWRP anyway? I see a lot of info online where people usually use TWRP lately. I've only used CWM in the past. Is there a benefit of one over the other?

Yes, there are some, but for normal users it is not important, but if you want to know it, just give it a try. Sorry it is pretty much to explain, and my englisch is really bad :p

They look pretty different and TWRP offers more developerfutures. it also got a Keyboard :)

Thanks! I also ran into this post which says "run fastboot boot recovery.img and flash the superuser zip there" but they never explain how to actually do it step by step: http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/help/root-unlocking-bootloader-t2820628

Sweet! I can't wait to receive mine and try it out. Did you end up using TWRP or CWM?

I have still checked Update CM recovery in Developer options - so I think no!

But I think in future: I would like to perform NANDroid backups where I believe that there is a customs recovery essential, or isn´t it?

If you want to have a Custom Recovery permanent, you should uncheck the "Update CM Recovery" Option ;)

Yes you have to have a Custom Recovery to make NANDroid Backups! (You can make a NANDroid Backup yet, in the pre-Loaded Custom Recovery! ;) ) Its it fully working like a flashed Custom Recovery.

I thought your method was flashing the custom recovery just temporary?

I have not unlocked my bootloader manually, so I am still thinking I cant flash such files permanent?!

Normaly you can flash them permanent, because your device should come unlocked, but some don't.

So just try this FLASHERs :D if the Recovery will still be there after a Reboot you are already unlocked ;)
(pls deaktivate the "Update CM Recovery" befor you try this!)

Flasher: (Attention, this are not the BOOTERs, this flashers will flash it permanent*, if possible)
    CWM 6.0.4.9 [PC]
    or
    TWRP 2.7.1.0 [PC]

    * = permanent untill you flash another Custom Recovery or the Stock Recovery :) )

So before following the steps you gave us in your original post we should uncheck the "Update CM Recovery" option under the Developer options?

For using the Booters you don't need to uncheck it, but for the Flashers ;)

@Martin Hotmann Really thanks for the guide.. as I am finding solution to this also as I have tons of datas in my OPO, do not wish to do a wipe.

However I still a newbie.. LOLZ.. I can't understand your guide starting steps 3 onwards. Can u elaborate in details? like how to install the drivers etc... I boot in fastboot mode, connect usb cable to my PC, then nothing happens.. :p
