Salute To Speed - My Experience

    Hi everyone,

I was among the lucky 6 winners that got the opportunity to attend to the launch of the new OP 6T McLaren edition.

But before getting into that, let’s take a few steps back.

The journey started monday (december 10th) with a thrill. What should have been a relaxed 40-minute drive to the Airport in Milan soon became a race against time after a car crash caused a massive traffic jam. Luckily I made it and by lunchtime I was in London.

I’ve been there before but this city is always a real pleasure to visit. Amazing places, lot of things to do and really nice people. It was easy to have a great time with the (unfortunately) few hours I had to spend around the city.

At about 7 pm I got my train to Woking where a couple of hours later I met David and the other winners. David gave us all the instructions for the following day, the VIP pass, along with a pair of Bullets wireless and a set of pins as a gift.

Finally we arrive at tuesday (december 11th). After a short ride we got to the amazing McLaren Technology Center. As a hardcore Formula 1 fan I knew how it was like but being there makes to you a even bigger impression: modern, imposing and neat.

And even more impressive was the conference hall. By far the best I’ve ever seen. Extremely comfortable and immersive, especially for the clever use of lights and the round screen that goes all around the room.

The keynote was very interesting: the main point was highlighting the similarities between McLaren and OnePlus and it was carried out very well. It can be resumed in the pursuit of speed. A different kind of it of course, but still speed.

After the presentation, it was time for the unboxing. I really liked the new phone, particularly for its body with the carbon fibre (a must for the racing-enthusiasts) and the papaya orange grinding on the edges. In the box there’s also a book, which I found very interesting, that follows all the McLaren and OnePlus history. In addition to that, with an augmented reality app featured on the phone you can enjoy more contents on it. Inside the box you’ll find also a sort of celebrative plaque with a piece of carbon fibre from an actual McLaren F1 car, which to me is enough to be worth of buying. I had only few minutes with it so I didn’t get the chance to try a lot the phone, but it seemed to be superfast and smooth.

After that (and a couple of races at the driving simulator) we went to see the McLaren museum where pretty much all of their F1 cars are shown which for a fan like me it’s like heaven! From Senna and Prost to Raikkonen, Alonso and Hamilton: everybody’s cars were there.

So what else can i say? It’s been a fantastic day and a pleasure to visit the McLaren factory, attend the keynote and put my hands on the new 6T McLaren Edition. Last but not least, I also had the chance to meet the F1 drivers Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris.

Thanks to both OnePlus and McLaren and hope to be involved in some similar experience again soon!

Don't seem much better could of been a faster phone. Why call it warp charge 30 and then say it gets a days charge in 20 mins? why not call it warp charge 20??

Ok.. Amazing journey! However my simple question is what true difference does 10gig make vs 8?

In long term use it'll matter quite a lot, in overall usage it won't be visible but surely in long term use you'll probably see faster app opening times as well as better multitasking ability on 10 GB variant than that of 8 or 6 GB version but 8/6 won't be too far behind but the better overall experience is possible on 10GB without doubt.
