Like in all other Android Devices we have the option to schedule do not disturb.

I was unable to find it on One Plus 5T.

But the software can negate the need for relying solely on the less flexible hardware option. I need my phones ringer to only work between 9am and midnight, how would you suggest I choose that option with the hardware option?

You have to search some app from playstore then...
Coz when you add hardware keys, you also add some limitations...
Because this is not just click buttons, these are slide buttons and that means if its on "ring" and you change that using some software to "do not disturb", now what will happen when you slide it to "do not disturb"... It can start misbehaving...
So my suggestion would be get some app from playstore and forget you had the alert slider at all...

Say, software sets to "do not disturb".
You slide hardware slider to "do not disturb" - nothing changes.
Slide hardware slide to "normal" - cancels "do not disturb".
    Simple :)

There is the option to set automatic rules but as I opened new topic, it is not working even it is set to. To get into Automatic rules option, hold long "do not disturb" icon from the on top menu (by swiping down from upper edge of display). Forgot the English name for the menu. :)

Yeh I’m using the free version of silence premium (called do not Disturb) and that works fine as well.

I have no need to be touching the slider on the side.

It would be great to have the option along with the alert slider to schedule DND mode, as I done it with all my other phones I had.

    how will it start misbehaving?

the button position overrides the software mode.

OP was asking the schedule option to be in working condition on OOS. pretty basic and necessary.

I have Macrodroid, so that takes care of it.

why is ringing volume still untouched when HW switch is set in DND (middle position)? What is good for DND if phone is ringing as in normal mode?! I'm really confused of this.

DND is not lower noise, it can ring for select users (stared in contacts) or no users or all users, you choose, same for texts and if people call you many times within a set time. you have to program it to your liking.

OK, you're right and I have realized it now by comparing my colleagues phone (I don't have my old one in work). I thought it will lower ringing too in DND mode (as it did not ring on my old phone) but it stays as it was set before switching on DND. I have set calls/msgs "from no one" to stop ringing in DND mode. Anyway I still have a feeling and will compare it to my old phone, DND and silent mode works quite different as I'm used to. Also additional settings whether DND/silent should end are missing (end in set time or end on alarm). And the most important part for me is, automatic rules doesn't work at all! Even though settings option is available.
