Screen Automatic Brightness Issue via OnePlus 7 Pro Nebula Blue

  1. nileshkp3 , via OnePlus 7 Pro Nebula Blue , May 9, 2020 :
    Hello All,

I have been facing random ups and downs in the screen brightness of my Oneplus 7 Pro. It was working fine in previous builds but since android 10 again this issue has become persistent. Please resolve.

Screen when locked randomly decreases the brightness and will not auto adjust the brightness according to surrounding lighting conditions. Having more issues in darker environments.

OnePlus - please fix this issue! Adaptive brightness is a fundamental function of every smartphone today. It should "just work" and it does on every phone I've ever had - except the 7T. Until this is fixed, I will regret my first purchase of a OnePlus phone and won't do it again. Thank you!

It's not a "fundamental function", it's a convenience to lazy people who can't be bothered moving the slider. People wanted AI in their phones, this is what you get.

If you don't know about it properly then don't make false comments

I'm not using auto brightness since 10 years or so because it's usually problematic, especially when covered during gaming or when just a single sunray dot is landing exactly on the light sensor and make the display too bright, or opposite situation (on every phone).
Now I'm using a little hardly visible overlay swipe button on the screen edge to change the brightness quickly manually, works perfectly

So people that expect adaptive brightness to function properly and consistently are lazy? If the majority of consumers for electronic devices shared this opinion, the world would be full of horrible products! Thanks for the good laugh!

this option has work flawless on every phone I have owned.

it will never work proper on this device because they messed up.

please don't make excuses for the phone or company. it's diabolical that such a feature is useless. and this is now the main reason for now selling my 7pro. I can't stand this bug.

and to call people lazy and use manual brightness. pull your head out the trash man.

Amazing. Selling a brand-new phone all because the adaptive brightness doesn't work the way you want. Oh well, your loss.

People got spoiled these days. I use only manual brightness with all the phones I had, still alive ;) Some people don't buy or sell their phones because there are no beauty filters in camera app! (ever heard of Google Play folks?) Unbelievable

This is a poisonous thread. OnePlus, please shut down the jerks.

    The problem is real.

This is not about being lazy. Try walking out into a bright day and use the phone without adaptive brightness turned on. You have a good chance of having the screen so dim in the sun that you can't see the settings to change to be bright enough to see the setting (on and on).

I will not be buying another OnePlus for this reason. I bought a phone that worked. I now have a phone that doesn't work the same way. Pretty terrible.

Sadly it appears that OnePlus would rather release a new phone every few months rather than focus on quality control and supporting the phones that already exist.
