Screen burn in

    radudragos10, Jun 18, 2019 :
So I've been using the 7 pro for about 3 weeks. This past weekend, mostly yesterday I've used Waze for about 4-5 hours during a long drive. I've noticed that in the lockscreen only there is a sort of a burn in that shows a bit from Waze.
I don't think that this should happen. Has any of you had this issue?

If there was any static image continously showing in the screen for 5 hours, at near full brightness, then of course it will burn in. Inherent problems of any AMOLED screen.

I'm not saying that it wouldn't happen after a intense usage, like if you use it daily, but after one prolonged use, I'm questioning the quality of this panel. most likely I'm going to use the warranty for service.

    Good luck.

But screen burn in needs only a few hours of static image on near full brightness.

il est connu que le bouton original de waze brûle les écrans, sur le site yggtorrent, ils ont fait une version avec un bouton triangle pour éviter cela

Nothing to question really. As mentioned screen burn in will happen if you are running full brightness for an extended period of time and yes 5 hours is a long time. Sadly that's a downside of OLED

I don't know if it was really full brightness because I have it on automatic, and it wasn't 5 hours straight, I took some breaks. Also, is had the 3t before, which was also an OLED, and I've used it any now and then for a vacation and it didn't happen, and honestly I don't think it should if you only use it once every few months and not every day.

AMOLED screen sadly burns in alot faster if you use in full brightness.

thats why dont go beyond 80% brightness to prolong lifespan of your panels and to avoid burn-in to happen.

and try use night mode on navigation app.

This is how AMOLED is, go replace sure but same issue will re-occur if you use it same.

every 1 hour flip phone land-scape to avoid burn-in, or every 30min, will help alot.

AMOLED is world leading screen panel from Samsung, with a cost of this kind of side-effect.

It gives great vibrant colour and very bright screen, but with a cost ofcourse.

Honestly I've never heard of this happening after 5 hours use especially as I guess the images on screen were changing.

I've used Google Maps for 9-10 hours straight on OLED and never had burn in on a phone. Maybe it's something Waze needs to change if there are parts of screen not changing for hours on end. Maybe it's an easily burnt-in screen...

Why is everyone going on about full brightness when OP didn't mention that?

Shouldn't be happening after only one use , maybe turn the brightness down a bit ?

It was mostly the top part of Waze, where it shows how more kilometers you have until a certain point. I guess it is an easy burnt in because at the moment it faided, and can only be seen in the dark when the brightness is very low.

Are you lying about the 5 hours?

You sure you didn't have a screen time out setting not set and fell asleep with Waze on the screen?
