So, I've updated to OxygenOS 11 and made a factory reset not to have any issues.

Here's what bothering me, the screen doesn't wake up/light up unless Ambient Display is enabled in Settings.

    * What is Ambient Display exactly?
    * Is Ambient Display now required to wake the screen up to show notifications?
    * Is it possible to disable Horizon Light in this case as I don't like it?
    * What's the Canvas feature of Ambient Display?

OK thank you for your response, but it still doesn't answer the question of why screen wake doesn't work with notifications. Even if I turn on ambient display, I still have to touch my phone in order to see notifications whereas before this update, the notifications would automatically wake up the screen and show the notification. Has this option disappeared with the new update?

I'm with you B15...my screen "wakes up" when I get text messages but not email. For email I get this useless bit of text on an all-black screen. I want it to "wake" like it used to. None of the settings change this nor did any of the 3rd party apps. Oneplus...please bring back this option!
