Screen quality...

I had OPO, switched to OP3T and for a year I was very happy. Now switched to OP5T... while still having 3T and looking on both devices on screen... I see better quality in 3T, better sharpness of picture or - especially letters, where in 5T ... I see blues or lack of sharpness... Any one has the same feeling? Seeing the same problem on Your 5T?

I have both 3t and 5t. I don't see much difference in the screen quality but like the longer screen and rear fingerprint sensor. The 3t was probably my favourite upgrade. Just went 5t because I could lol

I change it also because... I could. There was no need in fact because 3T was working without a problem. Yet in terms of screen quality I see that 3T was... better, crisper, sharper picture, letters... I'm little bit angry about it. Will not make another upgrade to OP because of that. For me quality fail...

Have you taken that plastic screen protector off the phone?
For me the screen always looks so much better once I get the plastic screen protector off and I fit glass one.

I have the same opinion, but I came from a Nexus 6P, which has an absolutely fantastic screen, and a 950XL before that, and a 1020, ...
All of these, to me, have better screen quality, mostly the color, even in the "warm" mode, the 5T seems "harsh" to me.
I also notice the smoothing issues, but that's partly because I'm used to 2560x1440 screens, and I think the 2:1 screen on the 5T doesn't do the greatest with scaling/rendering. There are different algorithms and methods to do this, some work better for some people/applications, it's hard to make everyone happy, I suppose...

I like my 5T, I just don't love the display, and I sometimes get annoyed by the quirkiness of the camera (sure, that's being generous, but I use an actual camera when I really want to take most pics).
Overall, it's a great package, it's just got some issues, and those depend on individual "perception", largely.

I have used both these phones and i didn't notice any issues what you said, infact I feel that 5T's screen quality is far better than 3T and also display almost 25 % brighter than 3T

ppi is same for 5t and 3t..
I also think 3t screen looked sharper due to less screen size and same ppi as the 5t...

Thanks for suggestion, unfortunately I'm always putting the glass in the day I receive new phone. .. (plastic was taken off naturally...)

Thanks for Your posts, I'm happy to know I'm not the only one with the feeling about screen... and not happy with Your dissatisfaction either...

If the ppi is the same the sharpness also MUST BE the same. Screen size doesn't matter in such situation.

Funny that you mentioned this. I found this post because I'm trying to figure out wether OnePlus 5's screen looks/is better than OnePlus 6's.

The only doubt I have is if it's the protective glass on 1+6 that decreases the quality (quite substantially, too, compared to 1+5's screen).

Besides this doubt, 1+5 definitely has better colors. But also, strangely enough, display settings seem to basically not work on 1+6. For example sRGB in 1+5 looks great, but in 1+6 - it makes me day "why the hell they even included this? It's so awful,..."almost looks like color e-ink or something.

And this makes me doubt even more if it's the glass (which I don't know what quality of glass it is, since I bought this 1+6 with it already installed).

But if it is the glass, my goodness it makes a big difference, probably would make me reconsider if to keep it installed or remove. Or maybe it depends a lot on the quality of the glass. I know how good glasses look on Ali express, maybe I'll buy one and try that...
