This is a real bummer and a show stopper for many of us!
Going to watch this closely for the time being. Thanks to anyone who can shed more light onto this.

if it is software related ( and i think it is..) it's not a big problem.
    It will be solved surely.

I don't even suppose it is a HW problem... it would be a shame.

There are some NTFS drivers but I don't think any of them are free anymore. I remember I installed ntfs3g on Linux once upon a time and it worked OK.

So in conclusion. There is no problem with OnePlusX SD card slot. Problem is with preformating SD card for using it properly. If you deal with such problem just search professional to help you.

Actually there is a problem, a big one.
Every card larger than 32GB is preformatted in exFAT, and anything smaller is probably FAT32. None are preformatted in NTFS.
How many people know about formatting? They buy a card and put it in the device, done.
If FAT32 and exFAT are not working by default, A LOT of people are going to have a problem with their SD card not being recognised.
Formatting to NTFS looks like a workaround that a tech savvy user can do, but it's not something average joe is going to understand.
This needs urgent fixing or OnePlus are going to have a lot of complaints.

it's a problem of course, but now we know how to solve it so it's no more a problem.

I think OnePlus will react quick and solve the problem in the next update !
